There might be a proper guide on this, but I don't know where to look.

I tried going online without planning last night - total disaster!

Went into 10 rooms, which took an hour, I spent 1-2 minutes in each room, and probably 45-50 minutes outside waiting for load times, get into each room, ect. None of them had settings I was comfortable with, or at a PP I wanted to race, or the track I wanted, but I gave them all a go anyway.

I'm from Australia, I tried a few Australian rooms, some simply kicked me out (no I don't lag, my download speed is 6mb per second).

Needless to say it was a disaster... oh wait I said that.

I just want to compete online, with racing soft tires, abs to 1, that's it!

And what's with the shuffle races? I eventually created my own room, and made a shuffle race, but couldn't adjust my own room's tire settings? WHA?

Could someone give me a hand getting into this please?

Join a racing league, there is at least 1 AUS/NZ one in the online series section. Build a good friend list by sticking it out in lobbies where your not comfortable, you will adapt!
You can change all the settings in your room on the menu screens including the tyres, good luck :tup>

Make your own room... alot of people dont use racing soft tires as it's considered 'cheating'. they have pretty incredible handling results... and yeah what berty said

What's wrong with the stock tyre settings? You'd have to be pretty spesh to have problems controlling the cars with whatever tyres they give you, they are fine. Just don't go all need for speed with your driving.

Im in the uk but will gladly race with you.my psn name should be on my profile. It doesnt matter to me what tyres are used as long as everyone is using the same. And shuffle races are my favourite alongside one make races.
and guys this thread wasnt created to start a tyre preference war.just pre empting since I see threads like this everyday spiral into chaos :).
Honestly, create your own room with settings that you are happy with and people will join.and after a while you will see that there are plenty of others wanting the same, but not wanting to host.

Hi Conza, I am in Australia and am part of the CRAP racers group. We have good clean races and don't get annoyed and boot you if your not as fast as the rest or for a few bumps. Add me on PSN it's BenNiven83 and if I'm around at the same time you can join in and see how you like it.
We use a private lobby system so you will need to find our thread in the 'clubs & leagues' forum and add the group and PSN ID's.

I too have found it hard to just jump online an stumble upon a good room. i used to be in a on-line championship an it was the best racing ive done, so much fun! unfortunately the organizer of the series couldn't host it any more an it folded.

I made my own room yesterday with one of my friends for fun then a few people joined an we decided to race for fun an it was a good time by all so ive added them to my friend list now as i know there good honest racers so thats what i do to find good racers. My PSN is Antix5 if you want to add me and i normally rope in couple of my friends to if i find a good room.

Wouldn't say im the fastest or best racer but im fair an never really have lag issues my download speed is quoted by my PlayStation as 20mb so i think thats decent enough for a good low lag session.

I'll be running a room tonight titled "WE LOVE CARS". Typically I host a shuffle room with the PP increasing after each race, but I'm always down to let the winner make a few requests. If you're interested, and still on around 11p CST US, then send me a message on the PSN and I'll send you the room number.

Well for starters, you can always see what aids/tires are allowed and what track is being raced before you even enter the room. That alone should prevent you from entering rooms that don't meet your basic demands.

Shuffle races you can't pick tires.

If you're fast, good, and clean, then join the rooms labeled as such. If you're not up to that skill level yet, then it may take some time to develop a group of friends who you're comfortable with. Stick with it though, as that's definitely the best way to get consistently good online rooms.

Once you get familiar with people's names who often host lobbies it is fairly easy to see wich lobbies you want to join .
when starting i agree it took me some time as well ending up in all kind of crappy rooms .

If you want you can always add me ( Terror_Dog ) on psn and join the lobbies i join , mind you they are mostly 500-550pp street legal rooms , yes racing softs are allowed :D .
all aids off only ABS 1 .
Fair / clean racing is essential tho .
It's up to you :D

good luck with you're search
