How to get Pole?

So unless I'm one to the top 10 fastest players as shown in the qualifying ranking screens, will I ever get a Pole Position in Daily (and other Sport mode) races?
So far it seems like a roll of the dice, and the dice are loaded (against me, cause I'm slow). I've yet to be entered in the top 10.

Oh, I'm enjoying that very much -- the feeling of getting a clean race while in the middle of the pack is amazing.
It would be better to have a qualifying after the match making, more like the races created in the Lobby.
Maybe there haven't been enough races yet (not enough data) for the match making to be optimal?
