I’ve just ordered a new PC with more than ok specs one could say. How do I make the game look as good as possible when it arrives? While I think I’ve gotten it too look quite good on my current setup (but capped at a relatively low framerate) all the CSP settings makes me somewhat confused, so I would be grateful if someone could explain what to fiddle with and what to leave alone.

Also, are SOL and PURE different things or different versions of the same thing? I saw some guide saying you need both, is that true? If so, how/why is that?

Thanks.

Edit: I guess what I’m asking is, can I make the game like photomode pictures during gameplay?

PURE is the 'next-generation' version of SOL, It's not as stable at times, but generally considered better (and is it active development - while SOL is effectively finished), you can have both installed and switch between them fairly easily IIRC.

Running at as high a resolution as you can and using Reshade help maximise the way AC looks in gameplay, matching it to photomode pictures may be chalelnging, but it depends on the photomode pictures and what spec of PC they were shot on. For a single PC build photomode is always going to look best between the two. However, SOL itself will make a massive difference on lighting, etc and is well worth it.

These are four-year-old video running on my old GTX1660Ti and I think it holds up well enough, so think of that as a likely low water mark for what you can get to.

While this is what PURE looks like (keep in mind its moved on since this was recorded).

I currently use PURE myself and I love how it looks in general, the lighting and weather looks very natural, but the image quality is far from as sharp as the photomode shots I make. But maybe that’ll always be the case as you say.

I’ll try to play with the resolution when I get home. Do you mean setting a higher resolution than of the monitor I’m using?
