Hi all,

after leaving the game for months on the shelf i thought about giving it a chance again. Since grinding is for the *** i thought about how to make the game fun again.

I tried 3 different courses and cars. First i looked at the enemies and took a car, that has almost the same PP like the enemy with the lowest ones. After that i took racing hards.

First i drove on the Nurb in the world tour with a Audi Playstation Team Oreca (701 PP). Then the NR-A Challenge with some Mazda with about 320 PP. You know what...i felt like i was in the expert seasonals again. Just with the differenche, that i didn't have to fine-tune the car.

Only with the 3rd race, the Kei-Car Cup in a Mazda Autozam i had problems with even reaching the 3rd place on the Madrid Mini Course since it had 320 PP (like the last enemy again). Here i think i have to put more PS into the car!

What are your oppinion? Do you have better ideas on how to make the seasonals competitive instead using them for grinding?

Beaten that. McLaren F1, 666PP, on the Nurb, winning by 0.094 secs from the C60 Hybride. You have to trust in the Toyota 7 a lot though

You could maybe set yourself time challenges to do the seasonals in. Failing that you should give yourself about a 25-50PP disadvantage depending on the event and try and beat your opponents that way. :sly:

I've enjoyed running just about any non race car in the Supercar Festival. Made the following thread back when this was the newest seasonal.
Craziest cars to race in Supercar festival with?
A read through at least part of this should give you plenty of ideas for ways to challenge yourself. Good luck and keep finding ways to keep GT5 entertaining.:gtpflag:

Thanks for the answers :). I'll try the supercar tomorrow, so i can classify how good / bad the cars in the thread are compared to the ingame competition.

WOW your 666 sound like a killer to me on THIS track! I already have a good challenge with getting a car with the minimum PP. Even reducing them will probably make me freaky lol.

I thought that the racing hards are still "too good". Maybe sports soft or so will make it a little bit difficult?

Oh, I did mine on Racing Soft. Either way I was still slightly overweight and slightly underpowered, and certainly under-downforced

Bassically every car ive bought (around 350 now) i test drive on supercar festival. And then move on to another car. Its my personal best way to test your cars.

^^this:tup:👍^^ I use the Eifel event as one of my main test tracks when tuning. Great earning money while making a car perform much better. With current payouts you'll quickly recoup the cost for all but the most expensive cars and full upgrades even if you come in last or nearly so.:D

The seasonals are really great multi-purpose events. I get a kick out of the moaning and groaning whenever they get released. "Too easy with my FGT!",
"Tsukuba again!", "Where's Tsukuba this time!", etc...

Great for driver improvement using a stock or near stock car. I stick with the same tires as the opponents and make minimal mods if needed. But for quick cash, some runs in a tuned Enzo or whatever is awesome.

I don't get too carried away with harsh judgements about content since these have been kept in rotation for months now. Sooner or later a new event will come up that's not covered yet.

My "competitive" racing is in online series so these are of secondary importance to me anyway.

Is there a way to dertermine what tires your opponents use? I took racing hard because soft would be TOO good and with somthing less i couldn't catch up.

About the events in general: You hit the nail right on the head! Either challenge yourself or make easy money.

I thought about other racing games and what they offer. Honestly...you can be really glad with what PD gives us! I don't know whether you have something equal in forza but i think you don't have bonus online events in SHIFT etc. for sure (correct me if i'm wrong, i don't own the games...)

The LFA was a wonderful car bone stock with Sport Soft rubber (I'm sure Lexus wants that car to be grippy). It was too slow and poorly geared though.

I fully modded the car and it ruined the car!!! It desperatly needs a good setup, the default custom suspension is garbage. Sound with modded exaust is typical GT eeew. The gear whine is deafening!!!

Bone stock in a "one make" race, it cleaned house!

R246 race.

Opponents tires have been listed in the latest seasonal's descriptions. Otherwise just make a replay and check their tires there. One of them was listed wrong (can't remember which one) so I just do the replay thing to make sure.

There's lots of ways to make seasonals harder. Obviously, choose a car with lower PP and tyres etc. But you can just impose your own rules, like wait 20 seconds after the start and then go (if you still want a fast car). Or if you touch another car as you over take, then you must pull over and give them their place back. - This will help you race more cleanly.
I often take a stupidly slow car to a seasonal just to time trial the track because I know that 12th in the seasonal often still earns more than the slower a-spec races.

Indeed! But then my above formula doesn't work all the time. At the kei-car i took a car with the lowest PP of the enemy and racing hards. But the descritption says that the opponents have comfort soft. It can't be that racing hards are worse then comfort soft because i'm not even able to catch up the 3rd car with RH.

I thought I was good winning with the Zonda R on 689. Well, for me, it was! Been thinking about trying the macca

OK, my final statement to this thread:

My Formula doesn't work all the time. You have to approach the race for maximum satisfaction^^.

Picking the same tires like the opponents is the fundamental beginning i would say. Then you can take a car with low PP and try your luck. If you can't catch up simply rise them (but not to the given maximum, that would be too much)

THIS. One million times.

Key to having competitive races and keep the tension to the last corner is to have same tires as opponents.

If you are not into tuning your car and love to race stock, sometimes - only *sometimes* - you will need to upgrade your tires by one notch (from S1 to S2 for example, I used the Sport Medium compound for great and heart-stopping races in Lamborghini Seasonals with my stock Gallardo, while field was running S1 - Sports Hard).

Great thing is that you can gain millions by simply searching for the best ride for particular seasonal. I wanted to win Real World Races seasonal with stock race car, so I started every race with R8, moved to 787B and for 908 in final, if both Audi or Mazda couldn't catch the leader on stock R1 (R Hard) tires.

Climb your way up through garage for victory and never-ever change the default tires except in very rare cases. Almost all Seasonal races can be won with stock cars on stock tires, it is up to you to determine which one is the right for the challenge.

I've got two cars in my shop that are designed for the Seasonals. The MX-5 in particular, is about as lightly modded as you can get. Tyres matched to opponent and custom springs, that's it. Makes for challenging and enjoyable racing...

I'm not able to play all events now, so i can only tell for specific ones^^:

La Festa Cavaliano - Ferrari 512BB - Stock PS: ca. 280. In the opponents list it has 404 PS! I already have trouble catching the enzo with 400 PS^^. No weight reduction and sports soft like the rest of the field. My best time was +5.000 sec^^. I could do better but you realy have to drive on the edge with this car (italian drifting machine lol).

So you have to tune until you manage to get realy close to the 1st place. With stock settings there would be no chance here.

Agreed, I usually try to approach the races in this way, but sometimes they are easier than expected!

I also use the seasonals to give the less-used and potentially hopeless cars outings too, with some surprising results. I used my maxed Honda Z in the compact seasonals but you have to use tyres to create advantage on the Grand Valley track as there is no more power to gain or weight to lose, even with R3 I can't beat the Mini.

Today i drove 1 hour DTM Eiger Short with the same Alfa Romeo like the opponent.

For people like me who don't know much about tuning your car proper this race gets tough. My best was +3.5 sec. But was hell of a fun!
