Hello everyone,

I have decided that I want to give my DFGT an overhaul.
I want to make the front cover a stickerbomb cover!:)

(sorry for poor photoshop skills)

Does anyone have experience with taking the cover off?
there are screws in the back but you can't reach them with a screwdriver becauseof the bump right behind the steering wheel.
So do i have to open the whole thing up ?
Or is my idea not even possible? (I saw a guy on Youtube that had his cover painted orange)

help is really apreciated en lots of sorry if this has already been asked.
i searched and looking thru the threads but found nothing.

greetings! :dopey:

Yeah, you have to remove the top half of the base to get at those screws. I mean it's feasible that you could do it with a tiny, tiny screwdriver but I wouldn't recommend it as you'd probably just chew the heads up.

Basher gave me the heads up on your thread. I recently had to take mine apart a few times.

You have to take off the shell that's around the motor area to get to some of the screws in the wheel close to the shaft.

Follow the pictures MrBasher posted, that's what I used. The screwdrivers I used looked like this: http://www.rotheblog.com/images/arcade/project/mspacman/packit/screwdrivers.jpg

If you can find a small screwdriver with a long shaft and proper handle it will be much easier. I didn't have one and it's tough to get the torque without the leverage of a handle. I used a pair of pliers to help turn those.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Wow thanks for the replies!
Very much usefull information.

This is one of the reasons why I love GTP!

I do have another question : are the buttons on the cover easy to remove (D pad etc.) ?

Sorry for asking alot of these question I don't wanne wreck my wheel ;)

There's a circuit board you have to remove, just a few screws (pictured in the above link). Once you pull that out the buttons are just resting in the housing. You could just flip it upside down and all the buttons will fall out, the only thing holding them in there is the pressure of the circuit board. I wouldn't recommend flipping it like that because they'll go everywhere but the general idea is they're easy to get out.

Also easy to get back in. The only thing I found that was tricky was the red turn switch. I made the mistake of not paying attention to its orientation when I took it apart the first time. Mine works but I'm pretty sure I didn't orientate it properly bc it makes a funny click every full turn. When you take it apart make sure to pay attention to that area to make sure you know which way it fits back in.

If you wouldn't mind could you snap a picture of the orientation of the red circle turn button from the inside when you take it apart so I know which way that goes? :)
