How to paint cars without losing the DLC paint chips

You can do this by using the save game trick: back up your save game, choose any trade-able car that you wish to paint, send the car to a sub-account and restore your game save.

You can then send it back to yourself once the trade limit refreshes. Or just keep them in your sub-account.
 
Oh really, I never knew that.
 
It's much easier to trade and back up the paint chips, as you can trade up to 5 per day.

You can't trade the DLC paints

Dude that doesn't work , DLC paints can't be sent ;)
 
Once the update comes out which spreads the DLC throughout all of the accounts on the PS3, you'll be able to send DLC painted cars straight to your main account.

You can send DLC painted cars to any account now and have always been able to , but you can't send the paints on their own .

Yeah I know but as of know, if you want to have a DLC painted car in your main account, assuming that's the account which you bought the DLC in (without consuming the chip), you will have to send it to a sub account then send it back.

But when the "Family Upgrade" update comes, you will only have to send one way (from your sub account to your main account), since you will also have the paints in your sub account. That's what I was getting at.

Maybe you can send DLC painted car but I´m not sure the receiver gets the DLC paint chip.

for example:
If you buy an FGT , you don´t get a paint chip.

Obviously ^^ but you can just trade for now so you don't have to wait until then , if you paint a car in DLC and send to your sub , you then have to wait until reset to return the car . Then we all know you'll have the car in your required colour and won't of lost a chip . But this method uses 48 hours of trade . Why don't you trade a DLC painted car for a DLC painted car ? Instant pleasure not chips lost . That's what I was getting at ... Lol : tup:

Edit: you will only receive the cars original paint chip when purchased . That's for the post above ;). ( rAver )
