i have ps2 70004 version, so there is network adapter build in
i have a broathband connection
i have cat 5e patch cable
internet is on my pc, so i just want to connect ps2 to pc and then pc connects to internet
how can i set connection between ps2 and pc????

thanks

what i did is put the routers cable thingy of internet on the PS2 and then i turned it on and got it to work.
NOTE: if you have a telephone hook-up dont put the chord on the bigger whole(the one that had a little yellow sticker). but if you have it from broadband and router you put it on the one covered by the sticker

If you want to connect the PS2 to the PC you'll need an extra network card and a crossover cable.

...and the only thing that will accomplish is the ability to have both the PS2 and PC online at the same time.

If you just want to get the PS2 online, revelli, take the cord that is attached to your computer and attach it to the PS2. When you're done, switch it back.

thanks m8s
i dont have a router, but when i was browsing the official ps2 site, i saw a pic, where two cables went from the modem, one to ps2 and another one from modem to telephon
do you guys think, that if i connect the telephon - rj cable dirrectly to ps2, this will work?:indiff:

Just hook up to the modem.

Before you do, turn off the modem and completely unplug it from the power source. Wait a minute, or two, and plug back in the AC cord. Then, connect it to your PS2. That way if you have a restricted broadband service, you can get past it. The modem will reset after the power to it goes out, and it wont know you're using it for something other than your computer. At least, that's what I have to do, but I read about this, only. I have no real experience with the modem and online PS2 gaming.

What if I have wireless internet and broadband?

Playing online doesnt cost money like Xbox Live does it?

Wireless won't work unless you have a standalone wireless receiver with a standard ethernet jack, or an official PS2 wireless adapter (if those even exist).

The cost depends on the game. Some games will have free online multiplayer, others might charge for it. Really, online multiplayer on the PS2 is like online multiplayer on the PC. The quality of the service, features of the service, and cost of the service all depend on the game -- unlike XBOX Live, where all of that is standardized.

The only PS2 online game you'll have to pay to play is Final Fantasy XI. All the others are free.

the network connection in the back of the PS2 is just that, a network connection, it is not a Broadband modem/router, so you will need to have the modem/router that came from your Broadband provider.

I have the D-Link DSL-502T ADSL Router, so I run the PC through the USB connection, and just plug a CAT-6 (it can be CAT-5) through cable from the Net adaptor in the PS2 to the Ethernet connection in the router. There is software out there to let you connect your PS2 to the PC and play games against each other (ie. V8 Supercars 2/3) but I can't remember where I found the info.

Hey, can you play GT4 online?
