Sorry if this has been covered before. I have just signed up and am looking for a way to solve this problem with my GT5.
I have been a GT fan since the very first one came out on the ps1 and one of my favourite pastimes is tring to set fastest lap times using standard cars on various tracks and then comparing the times. I have reciently purchased GT5 and for some reason my laptimes are not being saved in arcade mode and in Practice mode.
Can anyone help me out please?

You have to make sure you exit to the main screen before you turn your ps3 off. If you exit while on the race screen, it will not save hence losing your times.

Same thing applies for a-spec and b-spec races, if you don't exit back to the main GT home screen, you won't get your rewards and have to do the event all over again.

Just FYI, the game only saves in the main screens, you'll see it flashing "saving data".

In your career mode in practice they should go up on the table there, if not it could be a problem if you don't have any updates and that it was fixed in a future patch.

Otherwise I'm afraid I can't help.

Thanks for the replies. It doesnt even show the lap times when I finish the practice laps and go back to the start screen.
I only have the game about a month and have not updated anything

If you have the means to do so try and update the game to the latest patch, 2.06 I believe. And it should work fine.

Again, if this does not work I am clueless to what is wrong.

Thanks for your help. I will try and update it this evening.
These games have come on a long way since I last played them (gt3)

I played GT3/4 very briefly whilst at my cousins before and thought it was amazing, if I knew this would come I wouldn't have held my breath.

Great game with a few flaws but for me that doesn't take away from the experience.

I really liked gt1 & 2. But when gt3 came out I loved it. Played it in a freinds house and had to have it. It was the only reason I bought a ps2. Played it every day after school and plenty of days after work!!!
I never really gave gt4 a chance as I had my own car when that came out and had started modding for real.
Renault 5 GT Turbo
Civic Ek9
Mr2 Turbo
s13 Silvia
R33 Gtr
Kept me busy over the years but now I have moved to Australia (from Ireland) and had to sell the "toys"
Bought a ps3 last month with gt5 and I havnt been able to put it down since.

I wanted to do the same thing but GT5 saves only the 10 best lap-times (per track) so now I'm using an excel sheet with all the data. Yea, it's a bit cumbersome as you have to save your lap-times manually but I could not find any other way to do it.

Is there any way your laps are (what GT5 deems to be) illegal? i.e. have you cut a corner too much or hit a wall resulting in your lap time going red? These lap times are not counted and a ghost car of the lap will not appear.

I too do this and now have a spreadsheet of over 60 cars, all premium street-legal cars using 5 different tracks! It is pretty sad but it is really keeping me in to GT5.
