I have about 5 pairs of jeans I bought about a month ago and they were nice and fitted, a little tight around the waist but they were perfect. Now the pant legs are super loose and very baggy. Does any one know how to shrink jeans?

I read up on that you turn them inside out, wash on hot and dry them on hot. But some people also said there will some difference, but almost none. Pleaseeeeee help me out, I feel ghetto with these jeans :nervous: Thanks,

-Matt.

A couple weeks ago I had a couple pairs of jeans that I needed to shrink, so I did the hot-wash and hot-dry routine. They both shrunk about half a size. That’s about what I expected, since they were both pre-shrunk (as most jeans are today).

Keep in mind that as you wear them, they’ll probably stretch out again.

Since most jeans come pre-shrunk, you won't get a bunch of shrinkage out of them with the hot wash/hot dry thing.
Just out of curiousity, are you onl the track team or doing other strenous exercise.
I'm assuming this due to you saying that they fit at first.
One of my sons went thru this in high school. He was playing club soccer, and running track. After a couple of weeks he got really scary skinny.
After the seasons were over, he put the weight back on.
Jeans don't get bigger. So you must have gotten smaller.
When the season is over and your workout intensity goes back to normal so will your size. Then your jeans will fit right again.

Didn't Mythbusters do something on this subject a month or two ago?

They sat Grant in a tub of hot water for six hours (or something crazy like that)... I don't think the jeans shrank at all...

Well, I bike, and my jeans were fitted before. I've done the same stuff over the month that I've always been doing. They weren't this baggy around my leg area which gets a lot of stretching..

I'm gonna try the hot water / hot dry thing tomorrow. I'll let you guys know if this works at all.

Though I didn’t see the show, I believe they were testing something completely different – there’s a myth that if you sit in a hot tub to shrink your jeans to your specific size (which was more commonly done when jeans weren’t preshrunk), you can die if you sit too long and the jeans cut off your circulation. The being-killed-by-shrinking-jeans part was what they were testing; it’s pretty much fact that (at least) non-preshrunk jeans will shrink when exposed to hot water.

👍 Exactly.

Actually, it would be great if guys could all learn how to wear jeans properly. Too many fat guys try to pull off skinny jeans, and way too many skinny guys wear ones that are clearly meant for the fatties.

Wear whats comfortable and somewhat stylish I suppose, and just as important, wear the proper shoes to go with them...

There we go. Thats about right for most guys...

Easier said than done though for some of us. ;) I only have one pair of jeans that fit me just the way I like – Levi’s 501 31x30. How in the name of all that’s holy I found that size I have no idea – just pure dumb luck.

Seriously, it's really hard for me to find jeans that fit perfectly. I'll be damned if I'm going to have them tailored or go to a special place that charges outrageous prices for the new fad jeans and whatnot. So I just wear the same 3 pairs over and over again.

Those are seriously nothing close to what I wear. That's way too tight.

I wouldn't know how advice you on this since I wear them pretty tight already... Kinda like this : VVV

Yeah, something like that.

Generally speaking, thats about how most men's jeans are supposed to fit. Yes, it does depend on what kind of "style" you have, but alas, they shouldn't be falling off your butt or so wide in the leg that they rub together even when you walk with the cowboy stance.

Personally speaking, I always buy Levis. They usually fit me the best, the pockets being where they're supposed to (top 3/4 and above on your butt cheeks), legs being just the right width, and fitting over the tops of most of my shoes (certainly not all).

...Of course, you've got to think of your body-type as well. Fatties shouldn't wear jeans that are obviously made for skinny dudes (like me)...
