Does anybody know how to transfer GT5 Prologue replay data from your PS3 to a computer?

I just tried but it didn't work so well. I copied the replay data from my PS3 to a USB flash drive and then connected the flash drive to my computer (Mac). But what my computer sees on the flash drive is like five different files (most of which are in formats it doesn't recognize) instead of one fluent replay data file. Any of you guys successfully done this? I'd really appreciate the help...

I'm afraid it's not that easy. The replay file you save is just a bunch of data on where you drove, what you drove and how you drove. What you're looking for is a video file. The only way to get to that is to record it externally "by hand", for example with a DVD-/HDD-recorder or a PC with a capture card.

You have successfully done it. It's just that your mac, and the PC for that matter, can't do anything with the replay data.

Transferring it to your computer enables you to email it, or upload it to a website. You cannot view the replay on a computer as it is just a series of instructions that only a PS3 running GT5P can understand.

That would be a cool feature in GT5 if you had a photo mode + a video mode where you can compose your video from different cameras and angles and save it as MP4

Yeah, it would be cool of you could render HD videos out of replays, even if it'd take loads of time. *dreams away*

What do you mean by upload it to a website? Are you saying the data I transferred to my computer could be uploaded to a website and then be watched as complete replay data video on the site?

I took a quick look at your website.. you have a video of GT5P replay data that can be downloaded. How did you get that transferred and hosted on your site?

EDIT: I just took a look at the "how to make videos" link in your signature. Now I know how you did it.. you used a capture device. Do you know of any capture devices that work with a Mac?

It is NOT POSSIBLE. I have tried to do it with the DAT file and such. But as Daan said, the replay is just a bunch of rubbish you can't understand. Only the PS3 with the game can read it and write what is in the file.

When I tried to convert the files, they give me errors, or if it does convert there is nothing in the video file.

I wish, but at this point its not possible.

Better just wait until PS3 gives you the option to post your videos on Youtube.com.

No, I meant that you could upload it to a website for others to download and transfer to their PS3.

The Pinnacle video transfer device I use does not require the use of a PC or mac to record the videos. It records direct to a memory stick, or USB hard disk. You obviously need a PC or mac to view the finished videos though.
