How to unlock matte and chrome paint

Ive been searching google as well as the board and cannot find anywhere to say as to how to unlock a certain paint chip. Im curious because I would like to unlock the matte purple as well as other matte and chrome colors.

There is no way to buy paint.
You get a paint chip for each car you purchase in the color the car came in.
You also get a random paint chip (matte or chrome) at every 30 cars in your garage. Which matte color or chrome you get is completely random. No way to pick a specific one.

You also get paint chips along with your Museum Cards for logging in each day. This was added in the 1.05 patch. North American users aren't actually notified that they're getting the paint chips, but they are.

Of the hundred+ paint chips I've received this way, none have been chrome. I'm not sure where any of the matte's I have came from. They may all be from garage bonuses. It's possible that you only receive the "standard" colors this way, as I don't think that the 2 color-changing paints I have came from this either.

Sort of. You get the same paint chip that you would get if you bought the car.

So if I buy a black car, paint it pink and gift it to you. You'll get the black paint chip.

Thanks for the insight guys. I wont be asking anyone for paint chips as im going to try to get these matte colors on my own. Have about 5 right now.

So, exactly what I said then? Are you refuting me? Agreeing that it's possible you don't get chrome or matte? What here?

I got a Matte chip from the # of car in my garage bonus....not sure where the Chrome chip came from though.
