How well am I doing?

I know drifting isn't all about speed, but I want to see how well I'm doing compared to some other people. So if anyone is willing to help I'd appreciate it. On Trial Mountain I used the FC with these settings that I got from the drift depot. I use the one for the T8 in the front and the T7 in the rear. This is the car that I use most of the time. My best time was 1min 28 sec. What I would like anyone who will help to do is to drift on this course and let me know your times. Thanks to anyone who helps. And thanks sheron for this setup.

Its hard to compare. It all depends on how much exhibition you want to put into your drifts. Exhibition drifting will sacrifice time. You really can't measure how well of a drifter you're doing base on time, unless you want to measure your grip racing skill.

If you know how to start, correct, moderate drift angles, then your getting better.

In my book, if you opposite lock it from start to end of a corner, then you are exhibition drifiting. Drifting with the wheel centered will push your through the corner faster with a faster exit speed.
So if you want better times, you do less opposite lock drifts, but in my opinion, they don't look as cool as when your drifting opposite lock.

I can drift with the wheel at center at full throttle using my other FC on sport tires. I have 2 cars I use, both Fc's, I can push my black FC (the one sports) harder and can drift that one with the wheel at center. I work on getting faster, not drifting for show, unless I'm bored.

well, opposite lock can be sketchy with an analog and when ur in an FR, but i condsider exhibition drifts as drifts that are held for the longest possible amount of time... as in initiating a drift well before the trun even starts, and holding it as long as possible even after the turn is complete.....i go for huge drifts, my angle in an FR is fairly generous...but my drifts are long.

so to answer ur question, i can post u times of when i drift a track to see how fast i can make it through, but that dosent measure ur drifting skill at all, it just shows how well u can controll ur car in a high-speed turn while its trying to spin out on u.

I know its different when using a controller. If you can do it with a controller, than thats impressive. But I agree with you on "initiating a drift well before the turn even starts, and holding it as long as possible even after the turn is complete"

I'm at oposite lock just about all the time, and I use both analog sticks. However, I do agree that it takes a long time to be able to do this comfortably. Well worth it though. ;)

With controller and/or analog sticks, it's harder NOT to do full-lock. =)
Exactly. It's easy to keep it at full lock with the controler, but it takes careful adjustments, to hold the wheels at less than full lock. I have worked quite hard at this, and I think I am pretty good at it. Also, it looks great in the replays, almost as good as a wheel. ;)

I'm a wheel drifting, thats my forte, but I've tried using the controller and it takes carefull thumb control to maintain the wheels at less than full lock, which is important for producing long drifts and is more a measure for exhibition. Too often it just goes full lock and straitens the car out when using the controller. You guys are pretty good at it with the controller when you can keep it greater than center in opposite lock, not necessarly full lock, but in the opposite lock direction. Using the wheel, once you get used to it, it comes natural to steer in opposite lock direction, you still have to control it and you can moderate how much lock you want depending on how much trottle you apply. The more trottle, the more lock you can put in.

Hey! Those are my settings.

Those aren't for real exhibition drifting. I mean, they're like a grip-drift settings; you can drift but keeping slighty high speed.
That's a style I like very much.

I did give you a thanx in my first post. Right now I'm real into drifting on sims. I think they help make you better, its harder to control the car in some corners, and I got different settings (and a new FC) for drifting on sims, not to mention less power.

Ops. Sorry I didn't read the end of the post.
Now I have a few cars with sims and the more I practice with sims the more I like them. I really enjoy sims once I had taken some practice, but I still love high power and slicks. ;)

You know... this whole Gear Ratio not mattering seems to confuse me because I'm pretty sure I can't drift with too close or too far away ratios...
