i actually have the same question. i have a capture card (pinnacle pctv rave) and i can record stuff from tv (connected via composite) but when i switch to AV, the program in my computer still shows the tv chan and not the AV. what should i do to get my ps2 picture to my computer?

Viper Zero, thanks for all the links. i read all of them but unfortunately there is no totorial on how to connect your ps2 to your pc. i mean, i dont want to play any games on my pc. i just want to capture videos. i have a TV-tuner card Pinnacle PCTV Rave PCI which has s-video, composite and coax input. i also have a geforce fx 5500 which has tv-out. i use tv-out frequently, for that i just connect a s-video cable from the geforce fx to my computer and it works nicely. i also capture tv programs with my tv card. i use a rca cable for that, one end goes to my pc and the other to my tv-card's composite input. i use virtualdub for capturing.
now, here's my problem. when i switch channels with my tv-remote, it also switches them on my tv. great. but when i switch to AV on my TV, it still shows the tv-channel i last switched to on my computer. for some reason, i doesnt want to switch to AV. therefore, i cant capture any videos.
i really hope there is a way to fix this problem.

You need to connect your PS2 directly to the video inputs on the PCI card.

hey. ok i connected it to directly to my pc and it worked but the result is terrible. the picture is very bad and frames are dropping like files. what might be the problem?

ah, nevermind, it was a region issue. i popped in my pal prologue and it worked great. thanks!

You're recording the video stream, which compresses the data, that's what virtualdub does.

To view the stream without recording, you need a program like dscaler.

If you have a Digital8 or MiniDV camcorder you can plug it into the video/audio outs on your tv and use it as a VCR. Record your replay to the camera and then dump it to your PC via firewire. Thats how I do it at least.
