How you drive?

Since GT1 I've used a controller w/ the standard x to go, square to break, and directional buttons to steer. This is causing me serious problems in GT5, and I'm kinda stubborn to make changes... what setup do you guys use? Does it even make that big of a difference? How's the wheel?
