Do you mean if your laptop is completely fine but you want a full refund because you don't like it?

Here's what I would want.

Very crisp good looking bright screen.
Backlit keyboard.
6gb ram min.
14" min screen. 15" good. No need for bigger.
Hard drive don't matter.
Cpu don't matter much. Not sure.
Not going to play games.
Full compatible with windows 7 ultimate or home premium, whatever. Good video performance but still no games. Be nice for games but not going to spend that extra $.
Reliable.
Nice touchpad. Be nice if it was multi touch like swipe to go back and forward up and down in web pages etc.

Macs are nice but $.

I'll be applying for the new egg card to get no interest if paid in full by 1 year or something.

Cost could be say $150 x 12 about, but probably won't get approved that much if at all.

Not sure what to do or what all my options are.
Ideas?
Thanks.

I think you'll find most if not all retailers say that, because otherwise you might as well be renting the computer from them if you buy it, don't like it and send it back.

Newegg says laptops not refundable. So that Sucks. Who knows what may happen. I never buy non refundable electronics. That's stupid.

Judging by that you'll be good to go with a laptop in the $400-800. I would just look for a cheaper entry-level with an i3 or i5 processor then spend the extra money on the store warranty or a squaretrade.com warranty.

Go to a store and play around with the keyboards and pads, and see what you like.

I get to keep this laptop for free. Cousin just said I can have it.

Hopefully the 4gb ram I have coming will help.

I still want a better one for my music. Not talking ripping cds, but making music.

It won't do much for the old cpu but maybe a little bit. You might want to check this review even tough it's a 17 inch laptop and it's a bit over the $800 you are thinking of spending. It can be had for $950 off of amazon. It's pricy partly due to the aluminum features on the laptop. The palm area, speakers cover, and the lid is made from aluminum. Which would make the laptop look nicer through day to day use.

I got the Toshiba i7 17.3" laptop from best buy for like $850 or something.

It's the Toshiba Satellite P775

This is the laptop I got.

You'd be better off with the laptop I posted before. Here's a link to a best buy page or best buy page with the 750GB 7200RPM hard drive and full HD screen(the cheaper model has a 1600x900 resolution and a 320GB 5400rpm HDD). You have the choice of either using the dedicated graphics(1GB GeForce 540M) for gaming if you feel like it or the onboard graphics(Intel graphics on the CPU chip) to save energy and for regular use.

From what I can tell you will get more laptop from the ASUS laptop than that Toshiba. I don't partially like the plastics they use since they can become disgusting after several years(I've seen one in real life and I hate the feel of the plastic) and the computer broke down to the point where the motherboard failed with no power to the USB ports. This particular model seems to be installed with a lot of bloatware and I've not read that many good reviews on it(one where the keyboard was sticking up out of the frame).

I've got an ASUS similarly designed to the one I linked to and I always get good comments on it at college(heck even the $300 refurb'd ASUS laptop I'm selling is getting good comments and how fast it is compared to other cheap laptops). I would not go out and buy something right away. I'd take an hour or two and figure I would want if I were you and do some research(don't read product descriptions and only compare the spec sheets on the websites, such as Best Buy, they want to make you excited for a new laptop).

We already have a 2010 21.5 inch imac and a velocity micro pc. I want laptop. I can't sit on a chair really cus my tailbone hurts so much.

So this Toshiba is great mostly. Crappy view angel on monitor in that parts of the screen seem brighter or something if you look straight at it or deviate from a certain spot even an inch. Nice screen except for that issue.

I7 quad hyper thread cpu. Well, anyways.

That's about the max cost I can go. $829 and I couldn't tell what other ones there were better. This is also one of the top rated laptops i've heard. I dunno.

I looked at best buy site for in stock zip 98188 laptops or ones that did not say ships to or only online. I don't know of any others.

One thing is I hate the ones with texture on the touch pad. I prefer smooth. Mine isn't smooth but it's the better feeling for me then some of the others.

I can still exchange it but can't tell which one would be better for that money.

I found these two ASUS laptops(#1 and #2) with your zip code. Laptop #1 has three USB ports, i5 CPU and 4GB RAM(Good for $429.99), 4GB RAM(upgradeable to 8GB), and a 500GB hard drive. Laptop #2 has a PCMAG.com review, has an i5 CPU, 8GB of DDR3 RAM, 750GB hard drive, 7 hour battery life, smooth touchpad(what you want as there is no texture on it), Wireless Display(this would require some setup in your home), WiMax(internet service that can work in several cities for a monthly fee), 1 USB 3.0 port(faster than USB 2.0 with a 3.0 device such as an external hard drive) and 2 USB 2.0 ports, HDMI and VGA, and the laptop has an aluminum surface instead of a plastic case to avoid fingerprints.

I also found this laptop with the new Quad APU from AMD. The Quad is not that impressive since it is comparable to a Core 2 Duo(not that bad compared to tech from 2 years ago but still good if you think it's like a Core 2 Duo being a Quad). Though the graphics on the APU chip is comparable to the Nividia GeForce 540M(a little better or worse with different games). This laptop is pretty good for it's price and gets up to 4 hours on the battery through regular use.

Thanks!
I saw them and at the store. I like the pc mag review.

Bummer parts is for some 4gb ram not enough. Small screens too. Lower cpu too. Speakers not as good.

Sigh. I'm just so picky. I won't game except age of empires 3 and maybe the old battlefield 1942 ea box I have with all those expansion packs.

I do music with reason 5 and ableton live 8. So I thot the bigger screen is good.

Sigh. What do you think now?

Edit.
I'm taking this back. I hate how the screen doesn't have consistent picture if you move. Like if I move my head the brightness or something changes and in my opinion there's nothing consistent in the screen. My old macbook pro didn't do this.

So now I don't know what to get. Heeeelllppp :)

You can get a hella chair for $800 :sly:

Lol. Made me smile.
So far ive found tbat it doesnt matter what chair cus even sitting on my bed bothers my tailbone after a bit. Laptop i can lay on my stomach a bit or on mg side.

Im looking again at best buy site. I may be able to spend a bit more but not sure. Grr.

I wonder if i could exchanve it for something more $ and my mother not be there. She didnt have her bb card physically but did get it on it. I wonder since id just be exchanging it for something a bit more $ or cheaper, not sure. I wonder if i could. Be easier. And doing exchange i wonder if thered be the restock fee.

I took the Toshiba back and exchanged it for the Dell Inspiron 17R. i17R-6434DBK.

It's screen to me looks better then the Toshiba. It's specs are

Intel i5-2410M processor.
8gb ram.
750GB drive.
Integrated Intel HD Graphics.
Win7 home premium 64 bit.
Etc.

$799.
Took off best buy 1 year warranty cus in the box dell says they've authorized best buy to take care of tech support and warranty etc. So saved another $120 or about.
Bought 10 pack light scribe dvd+ r for recovery discs.

System rating is 5.9 from the hdd and graphics for windows aero 5.9.
Weird cus gaming graphics is 6.2.
Processor 6.9
Ram 7.4

Screen color is real nice and view angle I think seems better than the Toshiba.

I could have gotten the Asus one that is $1099. I didn't like the screen much. It's huge too lol. System Gaming rating wasn't that good either.

Took home the dell. Turned it on. Screen was fine for 10 minutes or so. Then bottom third of the screen was one dead pixel. Cleaned it didn't help. Shut off then on didn't help. So took it back and got another. This one seems ok so far.

Question: Why would you try cleaning a dead pixel?

And I haven't the slightest idea what this thread is on about.

Because sometimes you can rub on a dead pixel and it'll go away.

And then it's be cool to get some feedback on the laptop I got. Not toshiba.
