Newer regulations for the LMP2 class called for a more cost-capped performance, which would render the ARX-01C ineligible. Therefore, a new car had to be built and HPD immediately started development on one: The ARX-03b. In compliance with the new regulations, the car sported a shark fin as well as a production based powerplant, which was a Twin Turbo V6, replacing the more purpose built 3.4 liter V8 used previously. Again bolstering the new HPD car collection, it would also have the unique distinction of being the only Turbo V6 LMP.
