Hunger Games: Catching Fire (Spoilers)

Since I searched and didn't find anything, I thought that I would create a thread for this movie. I watched it on Monday and I can say that it was better than the first movie IMO. Although, there were so many unanswered questions which I guess will be answered in Mockingjay. Questions like, what happened to Cinna? What is this about District 13? What did President Snow do after Katniss "broke" the arena?Speculate what these could be below. Also, if you have read the books, try not to spoil what happens in Mockingjay below as there are many people (including me) that haven't read the books.
 
I suggest you read the books or do an audiobook from audible or youtube.
The movies (I've heard) are horrible and the books were rather enjoyable. 👍
I'm surprised there isn't a thread for the hunger games already. :confused:

I will try and read them at some time. Probably after Christmas as I'm busy with exams and coursework right now. As I've only seen the movies, I can't do a comparison but the first one is an 8/10 and the second is a 9/10 IMO.
 
I'd give the new one a 7.5/10. My biggest problem is the whole "Quarterquell" thing: it just shows up totally unannounced, and remarkably they managed to find 2 ex-winners/survivors from each District, one male, one female. You'd assume that one District might have had more winners than others. It just seemed a bit too perfect for me.
 
The movie follows the book quite well.
And I think it was very good.

And about the Quarterquell thingy, the only reason that they could opt for this idea is because District 12 finally had a 2nd victor.
And very drastic because the victors are mostly well connected in the capital and loved by all. Because they have a capital income and free housing, victors live longer anyway so most districts have a good batch of previous victors.

And everything about the misterious District 13 is featured in the third book.
 
Coming from the opposite side of the spectrum from the OP, becasue I read the books before going to the cinema, I got to say I enjoyed the first movie, I think the casting (apart from Kravitz) is superb, with a special mention going to Woody Harrelson's portrayal of Haymitch. He just "is" Haymitch.

Still to go watch the second, hoping it's true to the book, and brings it to life like the first one did.
 
The films are closer to the books than any other book turned movie series. So rarely have I watched a film after reading it and seen my imagination realised exactly.
 
I also thought this movie was beyond excellent. Very emotional and very moving. I have not read the books but I still truly enjoy this series. Looking forward to the 3rd movie.
