If the other hurricanes weren't enough now theres another one!! I feel terrible for Florida and every surrounding state that has been pounded with these hurricanes. :nervous:
Ivan
Category 5
160mph winds with gusts up to 190mph
Traveling at only 10 MPH

Hurricanes are just one kind of natural disaster that occur, and it's really the only serious one that happens in Florida. We don't get earthquakes, blizzards, dust storms, tidal waves, mud slides, avalanches...and our air quality is actually quite high compared to many other heavily-populated areas of the US.

Any place in the world is bound to have some sort of occasional crappy weather or natural disaster; Hurricanes are what we get, and we've had more serious stikes this year than any other, it just so happens. In fact, we haven't had anything above a Category 2 storm since 1992, until Charley hit last month.

At least we have fair warning, so we can eat, drink, and be merry before trouble strikes (along with running out of gas and batteries).

As of right now, its headed right towards Pensecola. But anywhere in the panhandle is a potential target. :grumpy: We have friends in central FL that went 15-16 days without power; $$$ damage, major life disruptions. We're about to get a taste of that here soon I think. Frances was a lamb when she came through the panhandle, but Ivan is going to be just like his terrible namesake. I certainly hope no one gets hurt, but statisically that is very unlikely. :nervous:

Good luck, ///M, and everybody else near this beast.

Damn..that truly is weird, to have 3 hurricanes right after each other.

It really sucks with all the damage and people getting hurt and killed and everything getting destroyed but to be honest, I love that kind of weather.

Hehe, I thought I was the only one that liked it.....Except for the people being affected by it, weather like that just intrigues me so much.

Oh man. That sucks for New Orleans. They are already several feet below sea level so nother 15 feet is really bad. :(

Hey everyone I am in Panama City beach and we HAVE to leace because of a mandortaory evactuation (SP?) So hopefully when we return everythng well be a bit ok anyways i am really pissed off right now oh and I think I have to go hopefully I will stay safe bye everyone at GTP! ( I say this because if it is that dangerous then we wont have internet or even electricity for a few weeks maybe!)

Stay safe, pimp racer. Good luck! My mother-in-law lives right on the beach in P.C. but she's refusing to leave.

 thanks alot man I hope I am safe my mom and sister and brother are gonna leave and I am not sure if I am gonna leave because I kinda wanna stay and watch (stupid me) but I dont think my parents are gonna approve of this so I am still gonna be safe. As for my dad he is gonna come to the place we are on wed.

Well good luck guys. At least Florida (on the most of the part) isn't being hit again.
"Batten down the 'atches, it's gonna get bad"

Goddamn,....three hurricanes in one month. From what I've heard, around 56-60 folks have already been killed by Ivan alone in Jamica. That's a goddamn shame, but you know what, I think all of these storms hitting Florida is a sign,..............DON'T **** UP ON THE PRESIDENTAL ELECTION LIKE YOU DID LAST TIME. PICK THE RIGHT GUY,.....JOHN KERRY. There, I said it. Election. <LOL>

Global warming is showing it's ulgy face, and does anybody lift a finger to combat it? Expect worse next year and so on.

global warming is a hoax......the last (current) ice age is still coming to an end therefore earth is warming causing more and deadlier storms(sorry i just hate it when people blame global warming).....and im glad to know Ivan will trash my next weekend(sarcasm).....i live in Raleigh, NC

You may be right. What is it you have against the idea? Is it that you don't like the thought of humans destroying the world for future generations? I have read somewhere that we are too small and irrelavent to do so anyway and that it is a natural process as you just said. I suppose we'll just wait and see.

I just dont believe its possible for humans to destroy an entire planet in only about 100 years of pollution from cars and such......the last ice age was what 10K years ago and ice ages last 10-20K years so really its still ending, therefore adding to the proposed damage humans alone created......

So when the ice age has completly ended, give about 100 years after that. The Earth should be a paradice with no freakish weather and rising oceans.

Global Warmining is nothing. It isn't happening. All these people worry about useless things. Anyway, I was wrong. New Orleans will get covered with 20 feet of water.

That's fine. I just don't think it's happening. And if it is it will go so slow it won't matter too much. Plus, how do they know there is global warming. We have only been tracking weather for the last 100 years. The first weather station was in London in 1890 or about that time. 100 years isn't enough to tell if the world is warming.

acctualy if it gets warmer we'll have storms of unmeasurable magnitude compare to these hurricanes.....
