Now, a number of people here debates whichever content like "Suzuka 2014", "M4 Safety Car", etc counts as new or a reharsh. For some they basically just a slightly changed version of the existing tracks or cars.

For me, new content is a whole new content. I dont really think cars like FT1 Graphite or repaints like GTR GT3 Blancpain counts as a new car, nor a "Suzuka 2014" counts as a new track. However, cars like Lotus 97T and tracks like Red Bull Ring counts.

So heres some of the questions i want to ask:

1. Are FT1 Graphite, M4 Safety Car, GTR GT3 Blancpain, Stingray Concept, or/and Mercedes VGT Racing Series counts as a whole new car?

2. Are Suzuka 2014 and 1980 Track Variants counts as a whole new track?

Discuss. And please limit discussion to tracks and cars only.

1.) New cars: Definitely no

2.) New track: Also, definitely no.

But this is new content and that is what I want. I don't care if it is just a new colour/livery or a whole new car ingame, it is new content and that is what counts for me 👍

NOPE! It's like adding cars you modifed through GT Auto as a "brand new" car in the game and say, "HEY PEOPLE! WE HAVE A BRAND NEW CAR FOR YALL!"

The same goes for the tracks, if it's already there then it's not new, at best it's actualized.

New would be adding 2014 Super GT cars, 2014 DTM Cars, 2014 NASCARS, Interlagos, Yas Marina, etc... not an updated track that is already there, if it wasn't there it would exactly be like the game at launch unoticed since it was there in GT5, just like it being there we hardly even notice Suzuka 2014 is there.

Let's just say they're new car and track variations.

No and no. Is it better than nothing? Undeniably yes. But it's hardly something I look forward to.

Now, if PD said "we are making a patch so that you can choose the AI's cars in Arcade Mode, including from your own garage"... then I would count the days for the update.

2. I've only driven it once or twice and I can't say I noticed any difference. What have they changed anyway?

1. Time change
2. Updated textures

Try it at 18:30.

Edit: Refer to this

I voted "no" for the same reasons already stated here. In my opinion, its just an easy way for developers to add content without actually adding any new "new" content. Other developers do it as well, seems to be common practice these days, with racing/driving games anyways. Putting a different livery on a car or adding a few cosmetic parts and calling it "new" really pisses me off and is not the definition of new the way I see it. And yes, I know that some people's definition of new might be different than mine.

New: Whole new car to the game. Example would be a 1970 Pontac GTO Judge. (This is what I would consider as "new".)

New: As in, new to the game. Could include slightly tweak cars cosmetically or same car already in the game with a different livery. An example would be the same car above being in the game but PD releasing a second non "Judge" model, a base GTO model if you will. (To me, this isn't new, even though it is technically new to the game)

The way PD did the "old" variation of Brands Hatch really kind of irritated me. It definitely should NOT be counted as a "new" track. If they had taken the time to texture it, remove modern buildings and make the track look like an old version of Brands Hatch that would have been awesome and I wouldn't mind that being called a new track.

Re-skinned cars.. since PD has been so resistant to giving us a livery editor I think we're going to have to live with re-skinned cars being considered 'new' cars for a long while. It's always disappointing when a new car is added and it's just a re-skin.

I'd rather things be accounted for truthfully, for example, "we have Suzuka (1 track) and 4 variations (old, old east course, new, new east course)" or in terms of cars, "we have the 201x Nascar, 3 or 4 different cars models and 1x number of liveries"...etc. Cosmetic changes, different performance packages, liveries, standard/premium etc. should not qualify as different cars in the car count IMO. It's deceptive as heck regardless of who does it. As I understand it, Project Cars is going to have upwards of 20 stock liveries per car, which in Gran Turismo world would give them a car count of over 1300, even though there are around 70 cars, which is the number they actually use.

Only if they bring some significant change. Also I have another bone to pick (slightly off topic) why do they have both a time/weather variable and a non time/weather variable version of the exact same course? Seems like a waste of space to me

Because padding the track count for marketing purposes to trick the uninformed.

Significant updates or changes between the machines do warrant the new new feel.

On the track sides, updates like Suzuka 2014 are indeed new as they pretty much rebuilt the entire track around current GT6 assets.

Nope.

Even with Suzuka, it's not enough. Adding some time change effects and modern textures isn't something amazing or new imo.

Especially adding a new paint job or Livery, it's not enough. GT is falling way, way behind in terms of quality imo, they're updating the wrong things.

Of course they aren't new!

Though, whether I care or not is an entirely different story, especially when all this stuff is free. However, in the case of Suzuka, I feel it was a worthy addition. It has made the track look much better in my opinion.

The Nismo R35 wasn't a new car just a tuned version of what already exsisted. I wish they'd clear out all the duplicates as they count them in the 1200 car total when some are only different in name.

No on both counts from me.

I think it depends on the circumstances. An Audi r18 2011 is technically the same car as the 2014 car, but I'm sure all of us would love to have the newest version.

In terms of the 2014 Suzuka, I think yes it is different: better/updated graphics, updated specs, etc. The "new" cars, though, I do not see as new. I have yet to find a difference other than the colour when it comes to the FT-1, and the safety car parts of the M4 should have just been part of gt auto.

So you're saying that if they update a track they should add it to the track count? That's the gist of the OP's question.

I didn't say they should add it as padding, instead replace the original version with the brand new version.

Not really, no. Those are more of car trims/variations and track layouts than new courses. Which is something I don't mind, I like the idea that PD is implicating different car variants, but it could be done better. Though, that's something to talk about in another thread; so I won't bother saying that here.
