I advice on a few tuning issues especially toe in/out

ok, most of the time i can get my car going as fast as the average fast driver. I only ever finish lower than 4th when i get wrote off by all the burnout drivers and often finish first but i know i'm not the best tuner as i see other drivers who constantly mess up corners driving the same car as me but they have both quicker acceleration and top end speed than me. luckily i don't mess up much. the worst things for me are camber angles and toe in /out but earlier i tried doing the 1 lap s class race in the F40 and the gear ratios didn't make sense. i tried for a low ratio so that i could get to top speed in 6th but i couldn't keep the back end in line but when i picked the ratio up as much as i could from secon through 4th it made some difference but not enough. is it the gears or is it because i'm not sure what i'm doing with the rest? now i'm not just asking for help with that particular race, more for help in general as we all drive differently and i'd like to be able to do it myself. ne hlp appreciated
 
A good place to start would be the tuning guides in the sticky topics right here in this subforum. :) Personally, I think forgivingness of a car and the ability to accelerate really fast are more a matter of suspension and gearing than of camber and toe. Make sure suspension and gearing are in order first, then finish it off with some camber and toe.
 
As far as the gearing goes i think i'm most of the way there but as for the suspension it's more luck than judgement. I'll have a look at the sticky guides now and see if i can't get a better idea of how to correctly set suspension. thank's for the help NL i'll come back to this thread with progress and questions.:):)👍 as i said in the private message, thank's to your help i have now shaved 5 seconds off my lap time in the f40. however i used the pp700 free run to tune my car and carried over the exact same settings to the 1 lap s class race but the car handled comletely differently. the back end was more or less unmanageable. any idea why this is and also i'm still struggling with camber. toe in /out is fine now.

i've got it sused now mate. i always drive on professional setting but the 700pp sets for standard automatically. as for the rest of the tuning issues i'm just about there i'm still not great but at least i've got a basic platform to work from. since your advice on suspension i've got most of my cars more forgiving than a priest on sundays especially the clio v6 and nsx :). i've been good with the gears since gt3 but thats all you really had to play with in gt3 and 4 to win races. anyway thank's again for putting me on the right track, it was much appreciated:tup:
