I have been over at the GT5 forums for weeks now watching all the speculation and dramas unfold, and expecting an 09 release of the game stopped playing prologue quite a while ago.

As the news has come out about a 2010 release the madness is now unbearable. People are on the verge of protesting outside PD/Sony, ppl are divorcing their wives, selling their children, buying xbox, building their own versions of GT using selotape and egg cartons. Its really got out of hand!

So last night, I decided just to turn on prologue and drive Kimi Raikkonens Ferrari round Suzuka for a few laps, given the GP is on next weekend.

And do you know what? I really, really liked it. Although a 'demo', its still a fabulous game and still well advanced in terms of any other console racer. Its funny how with all the negativity, that I needed to remind myself of that!

So, yeah, the fans are going crazy, as am I...a little bit. But I think il last somehow!

And if Prologue is that good, then GT5 will be...unreal!

Well said sir - my thoughts exactly.

maybe people should remember, IT IS ONLY A GAME! ;)

I agree....for me the time until march 2010 is quiet easy to bridge with funny online-duels. It is so much fun to burn rubber together with mates and parallel talking to them via headset...

Well said, i've stayed out of that forum since TGS. It's full of members who registered only to whine and complain and riot about the release date and/or make useless, irrelevant thread discussions, and who will eventually get the banhammer. This is madness!

That's exactly what I thought today .. I stopped playing GT5P a while ago too. And today I had a few races on every track and it's just fun to drive. People - enjoy Prologue until releaseday and don't look for news everyday!! Well, GT5 will keep me busy for years, cause I play like 5 hours a week so it's worth the wait. ^^

I was just about to post a thread about this. I think I'm going to stay away from the GT5 section for a bit. Popped GT5:P in yesterday and did some runs in a few cars. Nothing more than some free races and a couple time trials. Fell in love with a couple cars which I hadn't driven yet. (imagine that!) Plan on starting it up here in a few minutes to run some laps at Daytona road.

The full game is going to be epic. Can't wait for the endurance races!

I find the rant pretty funny actually. I just enjoy what is given right now. The longer it takes the better the game.

This man's glass is half full 👍

The speculation Forum (GT5 forum) is a good time. It is amazing how people have such strong POV's about GT5 but they dont seem to know anything about GT5p.

Some people forget... it's just a game... nothing more. We waited years and years for GT4. Did life stop while we waited? Nope. Played a little of this, a little of that, had a lot of fun. Played GT3 from time to time... hell... played it until GT4 came out. When GT4 came out, was ecstatic... played it for a year. Got off for six months... played something else... got back on and played another six months...

Gran Turismo is a long-burn sort of game... I guess people are pissed because, unlike with GT4... we didn't have a previous GT game on the same console to bide our time with... except Prologue... which is awfully short on content compared to GT3.

No worries for me... when I get GT5, I'll have finished a dozen other games on my PS3... Since GT5P, I've finished Fallout, GTAIV and Call of Duty... I'm currently going through Shift, will play some Supercar Challenge, will probably pick up some more stuff after... maybe get the PC:Shift so I can see if the mod-community has made it any good.

In the meantime... maybe I'll go autocrossing.

I was pissed myself, but that didn't last long... there's just so much else to do out there that whingeing over the delay of one video game seems pointless.

I'm considering one of two options:

Go out and buy GTPSP (when is the release date again?)

or

Turn on my PS2 and play some GT4!!

Which is the better option? (considering i think my PSP is giving me RSI, after playing Monster Hunter Freedom too much)

I believe GTPSP comes out 10/1 - that's this Thursday. As to what's the better option, I'll leave that to others. I did read that with the new PSP Go you can run your game through the PS3 - wonder if you could play GT PSP with a wheel using this mechanism and how good the graphics would be blown up.

To the OP, well said. I'd built my hopes up for an `09 release and had kept some holidays and planned to get my racing rig up and running by then only to have the wind taken out of my sails. Yes I'm annoyed at the delay but I still find it really enjoyable having online duels with good clean racers and another 6 months will fly by considering how long we have already waited.

I agree.;)👍 6 Months is not long.
I'm in the same boat as you; getting my GT5 Race frame for G25 setup will probably take quite a while....but it will be worth it....just like the wait for GT5.

People should think themselves lucky - by the time you even get to your mid-twenties you wish that life would move slower, not faster! GT5 feels like it's coming out tomorrow, that's how fast six months goes by for me...

Haha, I hear that!

I had planned to at least drive every car on every circuit in TT, do some online races in the meantime and try to get some decent times on all of this.

@ 74 Cars with 12 Circuits that gave already 888 races to do.
30' per car circuit combination, 14h per week, gives 32 weeks of changing races.
When you like to drive, there is is fun to find in this little demo.

(Not to mention, you can still do Standard/Professional settings and drifting)

I only bought GT5:P since I was bored waiting for GT5, seems I was right, I'm having fun now and otherwise would still be waiting + I've learned that experience helps when you want to go fast.

I agree with this statement.

Last night I popped Prologue in, grabbed a Mini Cooper S, selected Suzuka East, set laps number to "Unlimited" and set the AI to a slightly higher difficulty. Then changed to S3 tires, tuned it to 230hp and went for a drive. 👍 (already had a suspension tune on it)

It took me maybe 10-15 laps to catch the fastest car on the track, an NSX. Then it took me maybe 3-4 laps to get past him, and another few to pull away by a second or two. Then I pulled into the pits (@ 40mph, DON'T SPEED!:p) and quit.

Point being, I had a blast running that little car around that track for 25 laps or so, taking my time getting past traffic and having one hell of a battle with the NSX. I have a blast every time I do this. :dopey:

Suzuka East + Unlimited Laps + higher AI difficulty = make-shift track day. :D
