I am thinking I might get a PS4

I already own an Xbox one, but I was thinking of getting a PS4 as well. Should I or should I not? What are some good console-exclusives that I can use to justify the purchase to myself (and just as importantly, my Dad, who might have to pay half). I know all the basic stuff like price, but I would like some opinions on the games that are PS4-exclusive.
Note: I think this is the right forum, but not sure.

Games that you haven't purchased or played yet on the PS3 are some good contenders on the PS4. The Last of Us: Remastered, the Uncharted Collection (October) are two good examples of these. Bloodbourne is a Dark Souls-esque game that can get really difficult at times. Killzone is your average FPS, Driveclub isn't broken anymore. You can also include games that run slightly better on the PS4 than the Xbox like Grand Theft Auto, Sniper Elite 3 and, more recently, Project CARS.

Future games that look pretty cool include No Man's Sky, a procedurally generated space exploration game; Uncharted 4; Ratchet & Clank, a re-envisioning of the series.

There are also multi-platform games that favour the PlayStation in terms of bonus content. Some of these include the upcoming Batman Akham Knight, Destiny, Watch_Dogs and there's a rumour that PlayStation may be getting early DLC for Black Ops III rather than the Xbox One.

I only own 2 games on the PS3 (got rid of seven) so I could try some on the PS3, and I do like GTA and COD...
thanks for the help

I wouldnt buy it just yet. Unless there's really a game you want on it. I dont think any exclusive title atm is good enough to buy it.

Uncharted 4, GT7 or FF15 might change my mind, although I doubt ff will. I'll buy one eventuallly, i'm just waiting for that game.

So far the PS4 has been a disappointment for me but there is some hope on the horizon with No Mans' Sky and Uncharted 4. Otherwise you aren't missing much, mine is pretty much a 3rd party game machine.

Have you played or like games like demon or dark souls then you should love Bloddborne. It is less frustrating than previous titles. MLB the show if you are into it and Driveclub of course. Secondary console is not needed TBH

If you're thinking of getting a PS4, you should wait for the 1TB version to come out first, if you want to save the hassle of swapping out your PS4's default 500GB hard drive. A friend of mine who owns a PS4 commented that the 500GB default fills up quickly, especially that the installed data from some of the games are unquestionably larger compared to their PS3 counterparts. Add to that the updates and patches, and you'll be wanting for a larger hard drive.

The 1TB hard drive is just one of the things in my checklist before I seriously consider buying a PS4. Other things include GT7, MGS5, and the next Armored Core game.

There are some bits of news floating around the internet that the 1TB version is going to be presented at E3, so it's a viable option to hold out for just a little bit longer. :)

Don't know if this is legit, but it's worth looking at.

Yeah... My Xbox has five games and is 57% full... I think they will need to bring out a 2TB version eventually.

Just 5 games? Damn. A 2TB version isn't that far from possible, but they have yet to release a 1TB version. So you might just have to wait for another year for that.

My PS4 is pretty full. The first PS4 Wolfenstein game taking up 50 Gb doesn't help.

At least with the Xbox One you can plug in an external USB 3.0 Hard Disk for extra space (and possibly even faster loading).

My last few games have been on the PS4 due to the better performance. I don't really want to upgrade the hard disk on it due to the aggravation of installing all my games and DLC again, so I may use the Xbox One more in future!

You fibber! I thought you said you quite liked Driveclub ;)

OP: I'm not so sure about the advantage of waiting for a 1Tb version - I mean if you intend on downloading all the games you play, then yes. But we have had our PS4 since launch (pretty much) and it's still got a healthy amount of space left.

Oh lord, how could I forget about Driveclub. Simply awesome game. :D

Does a PS4 not require you to download all of the game onto the system like an Xbox?
Sorry, didn't see your question until just now. We have eight physical discs and nine downloaded games (of varying sizes) plus a number of iPlayer as well as Netflix style applications and we have used about two-thirds of the available HDD space since launch. Certain games seem to download more to the HDD than others, to operate smoothly, but those are generally the graphically intensive games such as Driveclub which also has a hefty DLC package.

With a bit of cleaning up of the image and video storage, we'd have even more space available still - that's one area that does rack up quite quickly.

How would an usb hdd give you faster loading?

Usb3 can deal with anything a hdd can throw at it, but so can the system's internal s-ata interface. Usb probably has more cpu overhead, but that probably doesn't matter much in the loading phase of the game. Ssd is another story, but even here I doubt s-ata 3 is going to be outperformed by usb3.

FYI online play is subject to mandatory subscription to PSN. Only $50 a year but just a heads up. The monthly freebies they give you are getting better though. This month it's Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and another indie game.

I'm liking the PS4 a lot to be honest. It certainly is a good investment as time goes on. I'm usually not the type that buys a console on the first year of its launch. I usually wait for the first generation to pass through.
