Someone is selling me one of these for $200 with 60k miles on the engine/chassis. Its been sitting for a few years in storage as well as outside so it need some TLC. But I can't stand the thought of it being sent to a junk yard--I had to save it. And since its a Shelby Z someday it may be a collectors item.
It needs a clutch, battery, new fuses, and some misc things to make whole again. $1,000 should get it road worthy enough to drive it to work daily. This could solve my daily driver gas mileage issue. It might pay for itself in a year or two.
1988 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z w/Turbo II C/S Pacifica package--what it looks like new:
Actual pic of the car I'm buying:
Shelby decided to up the suspension and handling bits of the car as well as the brakes to make it track worthy. Then they took the Chrysler K-series 2.2L I4 and dropped a turbo on it--so the car produces 174bhp and 200 torque. Not bad, the car weighs about 2800lbs too so its not heavy either. These can be made very fast very easily. But for my purpose I'm going to restore it to OEM factory trim as much as possible then use it to drive to work everyday. Its got power windows, power locks, leather, T-Tops, plenty of room for passengers, plenty of room in the boot, and it gets pretty good gas mileage @ 26/35 [est]. That leaves my Camaro to go the performance side of the equasion.
