My friend gave me Baldur's Gate for Christmas, but, to be perfectly honest, I've never had an interest in those kinds of games. I'm not the type who preaches how games are ruining children, but I've simply never had any interest in any killing/mission/war/sword/fighting/shooting games... just my nature.

So, the question is, what game should I trade it for? (No, my friend won't be offended. ;))
  • Obviously, it shouldn't be a game that falls into the general categories described above, since I have no interest in those games,
  • Racing games are fine (of course!), but nothing like Crazy Taxi or anything like that... I'm not expecting something as realistic as GT3, but it would be preferable if it came close,
  • RPGs-- I'm so-so on those... I actually really like RPGs, but they are simply way too time-consuming for me...
  • I'm not into sports games either

Well, looking back at that list, I've basically eliminated 99% of ever game ever made for PS2, but please just do your best. :D

*sigh* He said he'd prefer it be close to realistic for a racing game...

I'd recommend Jak & Daxter (who said I only had one game?). It's a 3D-platform style game with many different characters, puzzles, and tasks. The main characters are funny, well designed, and well animated. The music is good as well. There is some fighting of various sorts but it is of the 'comic mischief' style rather than the 'blood and guts' style, plus a large variety of tasks you need to complete - from catching fish with a net to flying a bird-creature to shooting a cannon. The graphics are luscious, and there are no load times. I can't emphasize this enough. It's a HUGE world full of all kinds of things moving and dancing and flying and whatever, and you can walk around in it for hours without ever waiting with a black screen or lame load bar. This game made me realize that long load times are a serious flaw in other games.

I highly recommend it, and I think it's a Greatest Hits title now, so it's only $19.99.

Ace Combat 04 is also a pretty awesome flight sim.
It is a shoot 'em up. So it may be outside your interest.
LeMans 24 Hours is also very good. Long load times though.

So, this makes two now :P?

I would have to agree with neon_duke for Jak and Daxter. You also might want to try out Ratchet and Clank. Its basically the same as Jak and Daxter (by the same people too), except it is set in the future and has lots of "futuristic (sp?)" weapons and tools.
