Here's the situation:

I wanted to clean my ps2 inside, because of the 'disk read error'.
I used this site to try and succeed:
http://arstechnica.com/articles/paedia/hardware/ps2.ars

Now, I got quite a big problem in the early stages of this "operation".
I can't open my PS2.

This pics shows that my PS2 has 8 screws:

This one shows the bottom lid not coming off:

And finally, this one shows the top lid not coming off:

Anyone got an idea?

Thanks.:)

Push the top lid forward so the plug that the controller plugs into is no longer in contact with the lid.

EDIT: To explain it more, the part where the controller plugs into in basically sticking through a hole in the lid, and you need to take it out of that hole by pushing the case forward.

It isn't working, it's hardly reacting.
I mean, the lids are so stuck, that I can hardly move them.

Who teh fook produced these things.

Try going to a game store, maybe you will find someone willing to help.

And if he breaks it, you can sue and get a new one:D :p

look for more hidden screws...instead of lifting up...push forwards so the lid clears your disc tray then lift up...I have taken my gen 1 ps2 apart with no trouble...I bet you are missing a screw or are trying to force the lid off without clearing the disc tray....

Most likely you're missing a screw, like already said. Check REALLY CAREFULLY for ANY screw not removed, my guess is, if they were all removed, you'd have it open by now.

Also, is it the 1st time you open it? Could it be the safety sticker? You have to cut it to remove the top (or bottom for that matter).

Thats really odd ive taken ps2's apart from all different regions and types (screw layouts) and it comes apart fine, you must have missed a screw, there maybe one covered by a sticker or a sticker itself is holding the two pieces together... you should be able to pull the top off fine by sliding it forward to clear the closed tray..

Oh and maybe you have one where the reset/eject button ribbon is stuck to the top half of the ps2 make sure you gently remove it so as to not tear it.

Remember which screws go in what hole because they are all different lengths....
