Okay in a few other threads ive been caught saying that im waiting till next year or by december to get a new car. SRT 4 what ive been wanting.

Just found this guy (who happends to be my bros friend) whos selling his 2002 Acura 3.2 TL for 21,000k . But since he knows me and really wants to get rid of it hes only asking for me to shell out what he owns on it witch would be 19,500k. You guys think this is a deal or what? Oh BTW he has 42,000 miles on it.

Sweet riding car, took it for a test drive, Oh just about fell in love with it and its auto sports shifter thing. Going to the bank on monday to see what kind of loan i can get.

You can get a SRT-4 for that same price, new without any miles and plus instead of shellin out all the cash, you can make payments on the SRT-4. Plus it is an Acura the 3.2

KBB says it's only worth like $20,545, or something.

I'm sure the Acura is a nicer car, but it probably wouldn't be fast enough for you.;) I don't like SRT-4's at all, but if put in your position I'd take an SRT-4 over the 3.2.

If you're asking whether to get the SRT-4 or the 3.2TL, that's a no brainer, get the Neon SRT-4.

I disagree! I'd agree if he were talking about the 3.2CL, but the TL is a genuinely cool car, and it lists for $32,000 - he'd get it for $19,500.

Do the TL, if you can.

Slightly off topic, what do you think about the TSX?

Exactly!

Plus you will have the ability to bargin with the dealership, get options that you want and get in on some of that great financing that is available now a day's. And owning a new car looks great on your credit record. That is if you keep up with your payments.
And the SRT-4 is surely alot quicker and is going to be able to be tuned rather easily I hear. The Acura isn't.

Also, 42K on a 2002. That's really high milage for a car that's only a year old. Does that milage put it out of it's warranty?
Why is he selling the car in the first place?

If it was the TL Type-S, then I'd say go for it, but in all actuality, I've driven the CL Type-S and can't really say that I was impressed by it.

Basically, I think that you have "New Car Fever." Just hold out and get your SRT when you can. That's the car that you really want anyway. ;)

It's nice, but you cannot produce a sport sedan which I will dislike - you should get somebody more objective to answer that.

You like yellow cars?:scared:

Oh, yeah, you owned an Evo VIII, and you also think 3.2TL's are 'genuinely cool.':P Kidding, Douglas.

Now from that stand point, yeah the resell value is a good thing, but also you have to figure in all the variables in it. A car dealership is going to rape you on price, that is the bottom line. A 2002 with 42k on it is a hard car to sell. A dealership would have no problems with taking it off your hand and using it as an investment on a new car, but, you don't know what the car has been through until a carfax is done. Add in wear and tear, plus the dealer warranty is void with second hand buyer if not done through a dealership. If this is a first car that is going to be purchased, then I would go with the SRT-4 with the full warranty. Either car has its advantages and disadvantages. The SRT-4 will depreciate fast that is a given in this equation.

Better than silver on the 6 - silver is the rental car colour. Yellow shows just how exciting it actually is. I actually prefer darkish red.

Who gives a damn about resale value anyway? Does Doug? Hell no. Crap, he's gone through 5 cars in the last month, at least. Do any of us on this site really car about resale value? No, we want performance. We want a car that we will get the most thrills out of. Were enthusiasts, not the middle aged conservative that doesn't give a damn, nor know a damn thing about cars to begin with. There the ones that care about resale value.

By far, the TL is a poor buying decision. End of story. Especially if resale value is the only thing that car has going for it.

Acura:

1. Used
2. No warranty.
3. High milage.
4. Having to get a high interest bank loan.
5. What's the insurance rates between the two cars? Acura vs. Dodge?

Wait for your SRT.

Yeah a dealership "can" rape you on price, but you need to do your reasearch into the car first before you even step foot in the dealership. There are many resources to find out exactly what a dealership pay's for their cars. Ask miata, I'm sure he know's of them.
If you do your research, you're not going to get screwed as badly as you will if you purchase that Acura.

The best way if no research is done by the way is just to sit there and say no to the price. Say no until the point where they can't do anything more. Get up and start to walk out. Even if you like the guy selling you it, walk out. They will send someone else after you. At that point, the final offer the second guy gives you is the absolute lowest the dealer can go. This actually happened today with a GTI, For a car under 20 grand, I am in love. :D

I question whether the TL even has the better resale value. Three people intepreted my statement as though it does, but in reality, we're talking 42,000 miles (for a 2002) and used. I wouldn't go as far as to say...

...but it all comes down to personal preference, since they both sell for a similar price.

About the same, I'd hazard - insurance companies are only beginning to figure out now that the WRX should cost more to insure than the 2.5TS, so for a year or so you can still insure an SRT-4 for a Neon price.

I beleive his personal preferance is the SRT-4. At least that's what he's been leading everyone to beleive.

I go back to my previous statement that NocPS has "new car fever" and is just anxious to get a car no matter what car it really is. But all in all, he want's the SRT and he should wait for the SRT. Not get wrapped up in this Acura that might look good to him in the here and now, cus in the long run, the Acura is a bad buying decision and it isn't really what he want's.

Don't loose sight of what you really want.

well, I just tried to check out what car would be better on insurance for me and I got a We're sorry message from Geico. As for New Car Fever, I agree. Man it is sickening what the words "New Car" can do to some one :D

Yep, I fell pray to "new car fever" when I got my IS 300. I could have waited one more year and got the car with a Nav System and a manual trans. But NOOOOOOOO, I had to have the car now. :banghead:

Ahh, I really don't regret it at all cus I look damn good in that car no matter what. :D

Wait a minute-Doug, silver is a rental color?! What the hell's wrong with you! Silver Metallic is the best color becides the Innocent Blue(my fav. Mazda color). Though the dark silver is awsome too.

The TSX looks too much like the 6, but it's slower.

I'd go with the TL over the Neon. One of my reletives has a TL and it's cool.
