I don't have nostalgia for Gran Turismo. Here are my favourite games from the series.

Hello, and first of all, I would like to make an apology. I can't seem to find a "general" area for the Gran Turismo forums, so that is why I am posting this here. If I am wrong, I am sorry. And, before we get into the list, please do remember one thing. This is MY list, with MY opinion. If you have a different opinion, then that is ok, we are all human after all. But please don't be the one guy bashing other people's opinions because they are different than yours. Alrighty, before we get into the list, we need to set some ground rules. First of all, I am going to only be ranking the games I have personally played on original hardware. I am planning to get/buy more GT games over the coming months, years and even decades, but I cannot form a prejudged opinion on these games. Second of all, I will be counting EVERY GT game as its own separate game. This means that the likes of Gran Turismo Concept and GT2000 will be included on this list. But, without further ado, let's jump into these games, in chronological order.
Gran Turismo 1 - GT1 was, of course, the first game in the Gran Turismo series. It has accomplished what it was trying to do well, and even now it's still impressive just how much they fit onto the PS1. But, there is something which I will talk about next which kinda undermines GT1, so I will give it a 7/10, solid, but its successor completely blows it out of the water.
Gran Turismo 2 - If GT1 was a game-changer, then GT2 just completely created a new game. Gran Turismo 2 is simply one of my favourite games (pun, if there ever was one, definitely intended), and I think the biggest reason why is the leap of literally everything. 650 cars, a whole bunch of tracks, including 2 of the first ever real-life courses, Laguna Seca and (atleast a section of) the Pikes Peak Hillclimb course. I feel GT2 is well deserved of a 9.2/10 rating, only let down by how rushed it was, and the rather notorious bugs left in the game because of it.
Gran Turismo 3 - GT3 is the game I am currently playing right now, so it is the one of which I have the freshest memory of, at least personally. Gran Turismo 3 is probably the hardest game in the series, due to the fact it doesn't hold your hand at the beginning, and there's no real "do this a whole bunch to immediately get rich" path you can take. But that's the neat thing, it forces you to play it 'purely', which is why I will give it an 8/10 rating. It isn't perfect, but it is a pretty large step from Gran Turismo 2.
GT Concept 2002 Tokyo-Geneva - I was looking forward to getting into this one. GTC2002 falls short compared to most of these games, content-wise, but if I am honest, we are lucky we got this game in the first place. Alluding to its name, GTC2002 features all the cars not just from the Toyota Motor Show and Geneva Motor Show, but also the Seoul Motor Show even though it isn't in the title. Due to the rather quirky car list, but not much content, I will give this one a 6.8/10. It isn't the most content-rich, but it is so charming you can almost forgive it for that.
Gran Turismo 4 - GT4 is the perennial fan favourite of every single Gran Turismo game. But, will I let that affect my opinion of it? No, not at all. Gran Turismo 4 essentially took GT3 and expanded upon it to a big degree. But that doesn't mean that GT4 is a bad game necessarily, but it may be a little easy in the early game once you know what you are doing. But as an experience, I feel GT4 is a solid choice, however for some reason it doesn't capture that same spark that GT3 did, hence a 7.4/10 rating. It doesn't have that spark, but if you're into that, then good.
Gran Turismo (PSP) - Gran Turismo for the PSP was originally meant to be a port of GT4 onto the PSP, but at the last minute it was designated to be a companion for GT5, which means I need to write this section. Oh great. But thus, I must continue. And let me cut straight to the chase with my biggest gripe, it has no career. Yep, you heard me, no career. The closest to a career in GTPSP is the license challenge centre thing. But, GTPSP is very cool for what the PSP essentially was, and that does not disappoint. However, the lack of a career and general strangeness give it a rating of 7.6/10. Not the best for a GT game, but I should take this with a pinch of salt because it remains, in my knowledge, as the only portable Gran Turismo.
Gran Turismo 5 - Gran Turismo 5 is overlooked a little bit when it comes to GT, but that should not be an indicator of its quality. In my personal opinion, Gran Turismo 5 is my favourite Gran Turismo. The music, intro movie, presentation, all of it is just awesome. Obviously though, it isn't perfect. There could be a little bit more events per league, and they could've made it so that some events had a PP limit so you couldn't just blitz through all of them with an X2010, but otherwise, it's a pretty solid game, so I will give it a rating of 9.7/10.
Gran Turismo 6 - There seems to be a little bit of a dislike about Gran Turismo 6, which I really don't get. If you have been reading these reviews in order, then you know the drill by now. Just take GT5 and expand, expand, expand. It's a simple formula, but that leaves some amazing results. Gran Turismo 6 has around 1,200 cars, which is probably the biggest car list in any game so far. That's an impressive feat, and what's more impressive is that it was achieved on a PS3. However, other than sheer numbers, this game, rather unfortunately, falls apart in certain areas. I feel Polyphony has a time machine now, but rather than preventing my birth they added PP limits, which is good, but I feel these limits are TOO restrictive, making some cars utterly and totally useless. And let's not forget about the AI, which is almost too slow. I have heard stories about people beating the 24 minutes of Nurburgring event in some insanely slow cars, so I feel GT6 deserves a 7.8/10. It's impressive on paper, but I feel like it could've been done better.
Gran Turismo Sport - Ok, I'm gonna make this short, because I have an issue. Not with the game, this review. I have played GT Sport before, but I do not remember what it was like, since it was a long time ago. So, the ranking is N/A for now, until I dig up my old PS4 and play it again.
Gran Turismo 7 - GT7 is the most recent game in the main GT series, and it is genuinely ok. Clearly there was little thought put into the career, as since GT Sport, Gran Turismo has taken a dramatic shift in focus, from being a game to a platform for online racing. However, that does not translate into a bad game. One of the best changes since GT6, in my personal opinion, is the fact that you can now earn credits through Custom Races. The AI, however, seems to be based on Lance Stroll, as it doesn't move or anything when I come past. I think GT7 is pretty decent, however is essentially a money-printing tool for Sony and Polyphony. 6.9/10, it can suffice.
My First Gran Turismo - And you thought I was done with GT7. Ha ha, no... MFGT is designed as essentially a glorified tutorial for the Gran Turismo series. It only takes an hour to complete, so don't expect a full GT game for free(!). However, the reward for completing is so overpowered that you NEED to play this, especially if you are struggling in GT7. This reward is in the form of 13 CARS STRAIGHT TO YOUR GARAGE. Yes, you heard that correctly, 13. Why did they think this was a good idea? I don't know, but I think it's only for this reason alone people played it. Overall, I think this game needs a 5.4/10 rating. It is by far the least entertaining game in the series, but the fact it is a free download and the reward is insane, you need to play it.
And there you have it, every single GT game (I have played), ranked. Thank you for reading until the end, as it really means the world to me, especially considering the fact this is a very long post. Thank you so much, and goodbye!
