I don't know how this happened, but I'm devastated... *pics*

Um, is it that white thing near the top?

Don’t worry too much – crap happens, people do all sorts of things like drop their laptops or spill coffee on the keyboard or what not. When it comes to resale value, most people care about the screen more than anything. Anyway, I’m more upset that I see Windows glyphs on your screen. :p

At least it's on the inside where only you see it and not the outside where everyone can see it as they walk by to order Starbucks.

It's not the scuff, it's the little dent, the size of a pellet.

And those images aren't mammoth :grumpy: get with the 21st century, sage, get broadband :irked:

I think by "mammoth" he meant that if you have to zoom in to show only 4 square inches of the item to see a dent, then it isn't that big a deal. And it isn't. Portable computers take a lot of hits in day-to-day use no matter how careful you are with them. Also, portable computers generally have NO resale value, so if this tiny little ding knocks a hundred bucks off it, you'll probably have to pay the buyer about 50 bucks to take it. :)

Also, it could have been worse: whatever made that dent could have been in the screen. Where would you be then?

You're over exaggerating. It's only a dent in the base of the screen. This doesn't harm the computers working capability. Just the looks.

Stop being a cry baby. All computers are 150% capable of getting a scratch or even dent on on them.

Oh, that – again, don’t worry too much. If it’s really bothering you, you can probably disassemble the bezel and gently punch it out from the back, but I wouldn’t bother. It has character now!

Um, except that it’s physically impossible to get broadband out here. ;) We don’t even get electricity nor running water here.

I've got to agree. It's frustrating that someone was messing around and didn't own up to the damage, but you can't keep a laptop pristine forever. My laptop never leaves my desk and it's got scratches, marks and dents all over. Never bothered me because it's just superficial and it still works like new.

You silly urbanites! ;)

And to stay on-topic: Event, just remember that other people have it worse off. I know I’m being a little hypocritical, because I’d probably freak out just as much if I got a dent in my laptop, but every laptop gets its battle scars.

He's has a Mac. The only thing Mac users care about are looks! Who cares if the OS is stable and safe, everything HAS to be pretty! :p

I'd be pretty sad/pissed if something I paid alot for got dented.
