Forgotten Wing
yeah. Windows XP is being really gay on my computer, forcing me to jump on my dad's whenever I want to go online. AIM and IRC programs work fine, just not anything having to do with internet explorer. I can't get into Internet explorer, explorer, My Computer, Control Panel, Dell Solution Center, MyNetwork Places, or anything else that has 'my' in the program name. Incase you didn't catch that, I'm typing this on my dad's computer because a process called "SVCHost" is eating up my 1.8 GHZ CPU.

Thats probably why Bill Gates is giving all his money to charity.

He wants Windows to be the only disease affecting millions.

Anyway, I think a format is in order.

Well svchost.exe is a standard process.

It is a generic process name for services that run from dynamic-link libraries (DLLs) so it's not nessicarily that which is causing the problemo. Have you installed any new hardware software recently?

Maybe if you people would learn how not to mess up your PC's you wouldn't be whining about Windows so much.

But what if you left your case open and a cat nibbles all the wires - whoses fault would it be then?

I've just thought about, it'd still be your fault :banghead:

Have you installed IE? It is an option you know...

XP runs just fine on my 1.6 gHz PC. So, I don't think a lack of power is your problem. Formatting the HD does sound good...

I am having trouble equating sexual preference with computer performance....

Haha, who keeps cats anyway? (--->Runs and hides.)

Come on, you guys are being a little harsh on churchie here. Just because mucked up his pc doesn't mean that you have to be nasty to him. You could at least try to help. It' christmas for gods sake, good will to all.

Roll and eyes.

Some people shouldn't be using computers at all. Saying Windows XP is "gay" and blaming it on your dad doesn't sound very mature.

Get your Windows XP installation disc, backup all the data you need, and format your hard drive. Once finish with formatting your drive, install Windows XP.

Oh, please! First of all, I don't see where you get off calling your operating system "gay"! Is it attracted to other Windows XP's? Should it be attracted to Macs? I really don't understand how computer software can be homosexual.

Furthermore, it is probably screwed up because you ineptly messed with some settings and deleted some programs haphazardly. Quit your whining and buy "PC's for Dummies".

Racer Idiot, no offence, but what's Christmas have to do with it? If this happened like Nov 30th - dec 7 you wouldn't say "It's Hanukka for gods sake, good will to all." now would you?

Just a question...

Err . . . it was pretty evident to me that he was being sarcastic.

Yeah next time I will have to use the patent [sarcasm][/sarcasm] tags. I'm English for gods (yes) sake you should always assume that every second word coming out of my mouth is sarcastic.

I didn't care if you were sarcastic. :)

I was just wondering why people tend to ignore Jewish holidays...

Wrong thread though. Proceed with making fun of Jspec's issues with XP. :D

XP is way too flowery: everything's always fading in and out, like AOL.
why do they do that?

anyway, burn what you need, then format.

Would a proccessor suddenly losing 250mhz off of its original speed be a problem that the user created?

Been out for three days. Found out it was a virus that Norton couldn't fix, had to wipe out the hard drive, got a 20G drive for paging, restored old files that had been backed up. in the end, my computer's actually a little faster than it was.

XP Isn't always flowery, you can change everything. I haven't had any problems with xp. The only thing i don't like doesn't even have to do with XP, it hs to do with my PC

When we got the Dell, I just made XP the metallic sceme, so it looks good, not flowery.
