Somewhere.
So, we all know that "Isabel" is running havoc on the east coast at the moment, right? With 100mph+ winds, and rain...

So why the hell does CNN send a reporter on site? There was this women, hooked to a phone pole or a tree (couldn't really tell) with her raincoat on, talking to the people in the studio, while she was just about to get blown away by the wind. Heck, we could barely hear what she was saying. Then that women, or rather, that ***** in the studio's like, "okay, hang in there, buddy" snickering at the same time!

What in the world is wrong with these people? Why would you send a reporter in these appaling conditions, when, to a degree, that guy/girl's risking his life? I don't get it... are people so stupid they can't be bothered to realise you shouldn't go outside when there's a wind storm? Do they really need a visual testimony, an on the field impression of what things are like? Signs and trees are flying, stay at home, idiots.

Sorry, just needed to vent... Went for a coffee in the employee's room, and the TV was on CNN... kinda got me pissed off to see a major news station not caring for it's employees like that.

I think it's cool. They had a guy there earlier, and sand kept getting in his eyes.

Yeah, it was funny.

Yeah, but their employees are dedicated, and someone had to be there when the storm made landfall. Not to mention that the anchorperson was probably reprimanded for snickering at their co-worker...

if you want to be the best, you have to get the best stories i guess, i think there are limits to what they should have to do

They want that news-reporting Emmy Award, that's all.

Plus, they're nuts.

I was watching that this morning - obviously these people have no concept of what happens if something gets loose in those kinds of winds and hits them - particuarly stuff like tiles, roofing metal, broken glass....

Madness.

Have they never watched Twister??

P'shaw! T'aint nothing! You've all seen the guys on rooftops in Afghanistan who talk into digital camera-cellphones and say things like "Lloyd, it seems as though they've started shelling now. I think the blasts are getting closer to our position. We'll keep you abreast of developments."

Desperate for attention, no acting skills?

Even better than this - Sky News carried this story, windswept reporter and all. Not to be outdone, they sent a reporter to stand in a wind tunnel at the Marine Research Centre in Teddington (how much further inland can you get?) and set it to 110mph - just to claim the record for "highest windspeed endured by TV reporter"!

"that's entertainment folks!"
