I feel like i've lost a family member(t500rs)

Well, a month ago I purchased a t500rs even though i was adamant on buying the CSR-E. I was telling myself I'm saving a few bucks, what's the worst that could happen? I got the wheel, and I loved it! I loved it so much, I gave my DFGT away for free. Little did poor brent know that 40 days later his t500 would suddenly stop in the middle of a race as he was wasting this cocky racer in gt5.

It happened in this order... 4 days ago... the fan started making the noise.. Hence i started limiting play time.. Turned it on today... fan started and quieted down as normal and a minute later... I got a fat," I tired, I'm going back to sleep", from my t500.

I hope Tmaster replaces this thing...Cause I REFUSE to go back to a D-Pad...Hence, no racing for me and a loss of a family member. Lol.. In any case, now i have a reason to try the CSR-E.
 
Don't they come with a warranty?
 
Should, but i was too lazy to see what all was covered. i've already contacted Tmaster, and waiting for a reply.. its just in moments like these you just want to vent and tell people. I honestly wanted to say much more and dog the company, but its best if i dont.

Anyway... you could also look towards a CSW depending in how much hurry you are, and of course the size of one's wallet.
I am sure TM will end up replacing your unit though.
 
I'm sorry for you loss (cries) nothing sucks more than loosing a good wheel. Unless its an actual person (troll face)
 
If so, I'll probably sell it the moment i get it and move to the CSR-E
 
I own a T500 and a CSR-E, prefer the T500.
 
I worry that my wheel will die soon and ive only had it for 2 months. Mine is version 1 and makes disturbing hoover noises every now and then. Wheel is not overused. Im confident thrustmaster would honour a two year warrenty tho and would take another as i love this wheel. Ive read newer models up to version 5 have fixed fan .

What version was yours?
Number under steering wheel unit V....

T500 might have a slightly better wheel rim (not considering the ergonomics) but overall CSR Elite is a better wheel starting from 2 x belt driven motors which are smoother than gear driver motors, sensor on the axle itself, that makes the wheel more precise, and finishing with XBOX compatibility and the ability of making adjustments (force feedback, sensitivity etc.) on the wheel itself.

Intially I wanted the CSR-E cause I switch to xbox every now and then to play racing games. That and I just realized from the DFGT to t500rs that I miss my on the go adjustments... In all honesty, i don't know what happened to my t500... may a right turn on deep forest raceway and halfway through it cut out...

I think that it should be covered by warranty because you haven't opened the wheel and the wheel was being used as intended.

That happend to mine once.. Check the plug into the T500 base, make sure it's depressed fully.. It can loosen slightly and cause the wheel to (go dead)..

As I stated it happend one time on mine..Now I (double check) it before use..

In that case Texar should call up Thrustmaster, and see if he can get a replacement from them.

Perhaps the Elite preforms better on the xbox or ps3 but for iRacing my preference is the T500 mainly because I feel the road much better. My Elite wheel as you mentioned is well built except for the rim, anyways it seems to over power the road and looses the feeling of the bumps and pavement anomalies that are laser scanned for iRacing.
 
When buying a used T500 rs does the warranty transfer over ?

So if they have their originally bill of sale that needs to accompany the wheel. If not that reduces the value for sure. I may be worth paying the $500 for new especially when you see used for $400.

Generally this is not true. I didn't read the Thrustmaster warranty myself but in general a warranty is only with the original purchaser. Since a warranty is a contractual arrangement it does them little benefit to induce you to buy used goods. If you get the receipt and it has someone else's name on it technically you aren't covered. In general I've never had that problem with used goods as they usually don't ask for more than a serial number but if they ask for a receipt you may be screwed. This is why people make a big deal about when certain video card oems offer double lifetime warranty which do allow you to transfer the warranty.

My concern is also with the registration, it will be registered in "their" name and that would or could be an issue on a claim. For me I'd have to pay no more then $350 for a used one, especially when new are below $500

I went to the TM site and couldn't find that. I believe you though. If this was a car and under factory warranty it would transfer. Were talking about a $500 product not a $20k + car :)

My g27 works ok still, I was just having issues with Iracings new Cadillac, as others have too with this combo. I think Frys had the $399 price a few months back

The person was from California so he was clearly asking about American law so yes you were wrong. That's interesting how Germany would force manufacturers of consumer goods to honor warranties for people who didn't purchase the item new.
