It seems I found out, which I didn't mean to, that I have a new Alienware. Seems someone neglected to properly dispose of the box my new pc came in.
What's the PC?
This...
Alienware Area-51 ALX SLI

Now, if anyone is subscribed to Maximum PC, you'll notice that in the latest issue, they did a review on this PC and gave it an 8.
Specs:

CPU: Intel 3.6GHz Xeon (1MB L2 90nm)
Mobo: Intel RoadRunner
RAM: 2GB Registered DDR2/400 Corsair (two 1GB sticks)
I/O ports: Eight High-Speed USB 2.0 (four front, four rear), two FireWare A, PS/2 mouse and keyboard, parallel, serial
LAN: Intel Pro/1000
Videocard: Two nVidia GeForce 6800 Ultras (425/550 DDR) in SLI mode.
Hard drives: Seagate 7200.7 with NCQ support running in RAID 0 off Intel ICH6R southbridge
Optical: NEC ND-3500A 16x DVD+R/-R, 4x DVD+RW DL, 4x DVD+RW/-RW, 48x CD-R
Soundcard: Sound Blaster Audigy 2ZS
Case: Alienware ALX full-tower case Saucer Silver, PC Power and Cooling 510 Deluxe power supply
Fans/extras: Water cooling for two CPUs and north bridge and 120mm rear fan
Mouse/Keyboard: Microsoft Wireless Desktop Elite
Bundle: Windows XP Pro, CyberLink Power DVD, Ahead Nero Express

Maximum PC said the only bad part was the DDR2/400 registered RAM.

Um...I am no computer whiz, and I already have an Alienware and an E Machine.
But 2 Dual GeFoce 6800 Ultras! I just installed a Dual 6800 in my current Alienware.

Ok, so since I'm not a computer whiz, does the sound like a really good machine? I'm guessing yes?

Basically, Alienware allows you to nearly completely customize almost every specification you listed. You computer could be very different.

You'll find out soon!

Alienware

This is what the box showed. The stats look different from what Maximum PC showed. Only thing, the box showed a black one.

You're kidding right ?....

Anyway - It's utter crap, send it to me and I'll get rid of it for ya !...

Someone must love you in order to fork over that much money on something such overpriced..

Specs = impressive
Price = not so.

This I don't get :

Let's break that one up shall we :
Um...I am no computer whiz
That's ok.. We can't all be 1337 g33ks....

and I already have an Alienware and an E Machine.
But then why do you have an Alienware AND an E Machine ?.... These machines don't come cheap and someone NOT in the know would get a Dell - NOT Alienware. They don't cater to common people....

But 2 Dual GeFoce 6800 Ultras! I just installed a Dual 6800 in my current Alienware.
Holy crap. Dual 6800.. This must mean that your Alienware box (The OLD one) is less than a month old. That's how long SLI capable motherboards have been around. And how can someone not being a wiz figure out how to install an extra 6800 ?... How would you even KNOW that the option exist UNLESS you're a g33k ?...

I think you're pretending NOT to know so you don't look like a Showoff.. Well - you do... Sorry...

Dual nVidia 6800? I think I spent that much on my whole computer. I guess it is the new Alienware--two vid cards: one for the top half and one for the bottom of the screen if I'm not mistaken. Flerbizky did say it well, though.

hehe... Go to Alienware.com - Find the Area-51 ALX SLI and try to configure it with Seagate disks... You can't.. And why someone would configure a PC like that and NOT use 10000rpm WD Raptors... Go figure...

1.) Don't count your Aliens before they hatch.
2.) [Sarcasm]Those are the worst specs for a wonna-b PC I have ever wasted my time reading.[/Sarcasm]

If it all works out, congrats!!! That will be one hell of a system.

:odd: Very skeptical about it.. Like everyone said, how on earth would you know that you can run 6800s in SLI if you were NO computer g33k? :P

On CHristmas Day, come back to this thread and take some pictures and benchmarks of your new Alienware if it really does come in. I want to see what kind of performance it gets. =|

Well, for those who don't know the specs/stats of this PC yet: Alienware's Page for the ALX

Ok, now this is probably some minor mistakes rolled into one big hairball, so let's sort it out. There are 3 different Base models for the ALX, consisting of entirely different setups. The absolute cheapest model has a base price of $4,999 usd. It isn't running dual Xeons, and it does not have 2gb of DDR2 ram. It uses an Athlon FX-55 and 1gb of Corsair PC-4400 ram. Now, as for the color, this is the "black" one. It still has the dual 6800's and the liquid cooling, but it isn't exactly what you posted at all. If you can figure out which model of ALX it is, whether it be Aurora, Area-51, or Area-51 SLi; then you'd be in business.

McLaren, you make me sick.

Although I'm building my own beast for about 1/5 the price of that Alienware. Sadly, it won't be running dual video cards though, :(.

The only person it could go to is my uncle. Since he and his wife are who I live with. Can't be for my dad b/c he could never use it. He's pastaway.

God, now I feel like I have maybe TOO much money. I need to find a charity.

You wanna give some to me? Buy me some newegg gift certificates or something? Since I got that iRiver, my parents can't afford to give me anything else...

Donate that computer to me! My computer is so old, it's not even funny. It only has 498 MHz with Intel Celeron Processor (is that good?) And 512MB of RAM. None of that thing I said make any sense to me what-so-ever. Aside from the MHz, which I think is the speed. It's slow. It's a really old compaq that my cousin gave to me. I really hate it. A-lot. I hate it!

My dad is too cheap to buy me a new computer, but I am planning to get one in the next 2 years when I go off to college. :(

Till then I have to use this piece of *****.

Roll, you never play games. If you got that computer, the SLi glory would go to waste. You are not worthy of SLi!

I can. If you give me it I would. I mean my current PC can't even play any new games that are out. I mean for goodness sake, it can't even play a video without freezing or messing up. And I got some of the best codecs avaliable.

My PC is crap and I know it. Trust me I have tried to convince my dad to buy me a new computers for years. He's not caving in, when it comes to money. He could careless about my enjoyment.

There are a lot of games that I want to play on PC but can't.

Doom 3
Halo & Halo 2 (when it comes out for PC)
HalfLife 2
Sim 2

Too damn bad, my PC can't play any of those.

Well, hell, if I give it too you, you'll be playing Half-Life 2 and Doom 3 at the best way. I think I'll wait until Saturday or tomorrow. It depends on how my family feels on which day we open the presents. It could quite possible be for my uncle. He gets a good dose of Doom 3 and H-L2 himself AKA 4-10 hours a day. He's already beaten Doom 3 2 times.
I can't even beat the Delta Labs. :scared:

Ha-ha. Just hope it's yours. Have fun trying to look surprise if it's yours. And try not to cry if it isn't.
