Yeah...I know what you mean, Mourn. I just started a couple of days ago and I've been able to drift through half the first turn on Midfield and sometimes half through the second turn after the chicane. My problem is that I always punch the gas (heavy thumb

) so I come out of the drift a bit too early instead of drifting through the entire corner. I've been using a lot of the FR cars with no mods on GTC Tokyo-Geneva and I've found the 350Z Gran Turismo Aero to be the easiest to swing. I haven't tried a 4WD cause I thought they'd be more difficult. After reading the thread, I'm going to try out an Evo. I'm curious...how many of you drifters use a wheel instead of the controller. I'm using the standard PS2 controller and I'm starting to think that the main reason I'm having a hard time is because I can't control the gas but you know what they say: It's only a poor mechanic that blames his tools. The only tip I can give you is keep at it. Try it little by little. One turn at a time...like the first corner on Midfield. Your timing is also important cause if you start your drift too late, you're in the barrier, too early and you're in the dirt and then the barrier. I've been able to save the drift a few times when I hit the dirt and sometimes it makes it easier but, it's not pure enough for me.
I've started to use general settings for every car and they seem to help. For GTC, no ASM or TCS. The shocks at 3F, 10R (maxed). Brake Balance 9F and 24R (maxed) and I'm using Slicks...probably T2 or Sims on GT3. I've only been practicing on GTC because I won't have too many variables to deal with and so far, it's been a nice learning tool.
Well, before this becomes a small book, keep at it cause there's only 2 things that have made this game really fun for me. Trying to beat some of the times that are posted (impossible for me since I suck) and learning to drift.
GAMBATTE!!!!
