i bought me a used PSP tonite from a friend at work. I paid 40 bucks for it and got the PSP itself, Midnight Club Dub Edition, Ghostbuster Movie and box. and thats all. Its in working condition and has a 512MB memory stick. Now to the questions.

I didnt get a charger at all and the battery is dead. I see the USB connector in the top of it and was wondering if it will charge off of that if i plus the USB cable into a USB port. Or do i need to go get a chanrger. I was also wondering if to transfer stuff from the PC to the PSP what do i need? ive seen transfer kits but i have USB cables that fit the PSP do i need anything else? software? If i need that then can i just get the software off the internet?

Thanks in advance and sorry i have so many stupid questions but i didnt get much with it and have no manuals.

You will need a charger to charge it up. I've never known the PSP to be charged by a USB cable an any way or form...

You don't need software to put files onto the PSP. Plug the USB cable into the the PSP, go into "USB Mode" in the System part of the menu, and it's as easy as clicking and dragging files into the right folders on the PSP through Windows Explorer. If you have a Mac/Linux machine, I dunno, but it should be similar.

I can charge my PSP via USB cable, it's got the pc usb shape on one end, then at the other end it splits into two, one with a yellow-ringed charge shape, and the smaller strange USB shape which connects to the top

Oh, I see. It will work with a cable like that, or one you plug into your car's cigarette lighter, but I think he was on about a totally normal one, which doesn't charge it in any way.

Buying a USB cable like that would be cheaper than buying the proper charger. How long is the charge time on it? If it's a long time, then would still suggest a normal charger, as it charges a PSP from flat to 100% in a little over an hour.

I don't know how long the charge time is for the USB->USB/Charger cable, but I have both. It is nice to use because I can just steal power from my laptop when traveling. I never understood why sony didn't just have the PSP charge over mini USB anyway - just like they have the sixaxis charge.

i have a USB cable from a external hard drive that gets its power from the USB. I also tried my cell phone charger which has the same shape and is 5v and still no luck. Looks like ill just haft to buy a charger kit.
