Yeah. I didn't have my license on me either. That's probably because I don't have one. But anyway, I was heading down Main Street, I was doing about 80mph. I had to get my brother to work on time, so I had to go fast. The speed limit on Main Street is 45mph. The state trooper dude that I passed thought I was going a little over the speed limit. So he stopped me. He umm...was really nice which was a relief. He told me he wouldn't put on the ticket that I didn't have an actual license, and that he'd just give me a citation for speeding and not having my "license" with me. But yeah, so, I go to court soon and at 9am. Ouch. So umm...yeah.

You're going to have to prove to the judge that you have a driver's license when you go to courst so... good luck with that.👍

I would hire a lawyer if I were you - especially if he wrote the ticket for 80 in a 45 zone. They're going to bend you over on that one, and on the not having a license part. I hire a lawyer everytime I get a ticket - no matter what it's for. I've had tickets for 89 in a 45, 86 in a 50, excessive acceleration, exhibition of speed, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, etc., you name it, and chances are I've gotten a ticket for it. I also have a clean driving/criminal record.;)

Wait, it's illegal to accelerate too quickly? how do they judge that? You can't go from 0-60 in less than 5 seconds or something?

It seems like you should be able to accelerate as quickly as you like as long as you stay within the speed limit.

They can ticket you for exhibition of speed, exhibition of acceleration, reckless endangerment, racing, participation in a speeding contest, gross display of horse power, etc. just for accelerating too quickly. You can receive a ticket for drag racing even if you're the only car/motorcycle within miles(Don't ask me how. It takes two to drag race). It's all up to the officer who pulls you over.

It's all a crock of **** if you ask me.

It's the law.

Sadly.

But really, I don't know what to expect. I mean, I do and everything. Some hefty fines, suspension of license until I'm a senior citizen, more fines, and then some more just for good measure. Sound about right?

Ouch is right.

Usually anything 25mph above the speed limit and the state is gonna play hard ball with you.
Take Josh's advice and get a lawyer or your gonna lose your license before you even get it. Surprised he didn't take you to jail as your excessive speed can certainly land you in the clink.

Matter of fact, I got off so lucky just the other night while I was driving back from the airport. Seems a Acura Legend wanted to race me and well, I was all about it. We hit speeds in excess of 100 mph on Interstate 70. Eventually we were slowed down by other traffic when I noticed the State Trooper rollin right next to the Acura. That's when the trooper got in behind me and turned on the lights. I pulled over, but the Acura kept on going. The trooper got out of the car, ran up to me and started shouting at me to give her my license. That's when she ran back to her car, pulled up next to me and told me to follow her and stop when she had pulled over the Acura. She then sped off after the other guy. I obeyed her orders and proceded along the highway at the speed limit and kept my eye open for her with the Acura pulled over.

I never saw here again. She wasn't on the road with the Acura anywhere. So at this point I have no idea what to do so I just head home.

So now all sorts of crazy thoughts are runnin through my head that there is going to be a warrant out for my arrest for eluding a police officer and whatever else.
What am I gonna do, she's got my license right?
The next day I wake up and call a lawyer. I'm thinkin I'm gonna lose my license for sure, especially if she got me doing 100 mph. I'm sweatin it all day at work, waiting for my lawyer to get back to me with the news.
Finally she does and it's the best news that I've ever gotten. Turns out the Acura tried to pull off the road to get away but the cop didn't fall for it and that's why I didn't see her on the interstate. She goes on to say that the trooper doesn't want to give me a citation and only wants to give me a stern talking to and give me back my license. I couldn't beleive it, she said that she paced me doing 90 mph, that's enough to have my license revoked right then and there and get a one way ticket to jail but she didn't want to do that.

The guy in the Acura however has a different tale to tell. Ouch!

I'm a horrible speeder. I passed 2 cops the other day on my way to work. I use to interstate to get there, so I go fast. I was in the fast line, had the car floored. It was at 120mph and the pedal was to the floor. Cheap ass 01 Neon won't go any faster. So, this rig is in the right lane, blocking my view of the 2 cops. They were both with another car they had stopped. I finally saw the 2 pigs right when I was even with them. I freaked. I mean, I passed 3 cops doing well over 70mph, which is the interstate speedlimit in that area. So, instead of slowing down, I kept it floored. Hell, if I were to slow down, they'd catch me. I have a better chance of not getting caught if i just kept it floored. So I did. I made it to work without getting busted. It was a rush.

Have you renewed your plates for '04 yet? If you haven't they can tell you're from way out of town - I call discrimination. You'd better get on the phone with a lawyer - a good lawyer - and sue the pants off the State Patrol. And maybe the underwear too - and those hats - I hate those hats.

Werd.

That sort of happened to me once. I was racing a F-250/350 dualie, because I knew the driver, down highway 17 at about 12:30am and we flew right past a cop. He pulled me over, and ran to my window, and told me to follow him so he could get the truck as well. He ran back to his car, and flew past me. I waited a few seconds before I pulled out, and accelerated rather slowly. As soon as he got about 100 yards from me I thought, "Meh. **** this." and I made a right onto the IOP connector, and just drove home. My friends in the truck got a ticket, though. Fools.

If you knew the driver, didn't you think they'd tell the cop who you were?

You just make stupid decisions constantly!!

My friends aren't jackasses like your's, Doug. They wouldn't tell a cop my name, and where I live, if they knew I would get the shaft as a result.

Yes - it was a stupid decision - I got out of hundreds of dollars worth of lawyer fees, and the hassle of having to go to court. What was I thinking?!:banghead:

If I was the friends in the pickup, I'd turn you in. I'm a lousy friend - but it'd be a hell of a laugh, I'd bet - or not. Did everybody in the truck get a ticket or just the driver?

No, just the driver.

I must've been drunk like 10 minutes ago when I said my friends in the truck got tickets.:odd:

Well some of those drag-racing crimes - exhibition of speed, exhibition of acceleration, etc - can involve more than one people getting ticketed.
