Do the driving aids really help that much? mine are set to whatever it comes with on but I can't win the 650pp seasonals I have all the best cars bc I'm a gt groupie and i don't know what to do anymore I need to know if there's any tricks, good tunes, let me know which aids will help me most, what car is gonna b the best any help would b appreciated
 
I find them more of a hindrance than a help.
 
Active steering is good set to mild.

Traction control slows you down drastically, especially on settings over 1.

One of the 700pp cars downtuned to 650 on R/S has to be a winner. Maybe reset the grid a few times, as the 650 races are a bit challenging when 2 rabbits are pushing each other.
 
My biggest issue is that I can't control my oversteer I think I have my cars too powerful and them goin so fast wit the low top speeds I set I don't know and I guess the rest is that i just don't know the tracks well enough but Idk I need sum sort of help I jus can't win best I ever do is 3 or4 its really just making me not wanna play

And yeah, TC is definitely more hindrance than help... set to 5, it's like driving a sofa!! You're caught in a stasis field at every corner. :boggled: :sick:

If you feel you need TC, don't set it higher than 2. Basically, if you're using it, you ought to use it on the lowest possible setting you can stand it. (0 if possible!)

But the best advice I can give on getting throttle oversteer on powerful cars...

If its oversteer thats slowing you down try adding spoilers to the cars you struggle driving so the back end doesn't step out so much. I've only recently been driving with all aids off and it does take a lot more control, I used tio drive with TC on 3 and still win by a comfortable margin and they felt quite stable to drive. Try going to gt5 tuning and using one of the tunes to tune your car, I find they really help the cars balance and drivability. Or if none of that helps try just using front or four wheel drive, because its normally the rear wheel drive cars that oversteer.
 
Not sure if you are using wheel or DS3. I am sure you are already on race soft and already on maximum PP allowed.

If the problem is oversteer on turning, set SRF on, active steering to mild, rear toe in, set aero on the rear to the maximum your car can give.
If the oversteer is on braking, set braking bias 5:3 or even lower on rear. Ensure that heavy braking is done on fairly straight steering.
If the oversteer is on acceleration, set TC to 1 or 2, set the rear suspension with some toe in and be fairly gentle on acceleration.

Active stability management and TC above 2 usually slows you down so turn that off.

As mentioned in other threads, a Mazda Furai or R35 TC are well mannered cars without tuning. If you want straightline speed, go for Mclaren F1 GTR or Chapparal 2J.

Ignore complaints about how easy the seasonals are. This community has some outstanding drivers who rank in the leaderboard of time trials. They can drive their Kubelwagon and win the seasonals. For people like myself, I struggle with some of the seasonals too. In time trials, I am rank like 20000+th position (2500th if I try harder like in GT academy) most times so I probably belongs to the norm.

If you still can't win it, that's fine. If you persist, you may find victory all the more sweeter. Who knows, you might even be alien material. (I know I am not)
 
Get everything, other than ABS 1, turned off as soon as you can. You'll benefit in the long run. In the meantime, if there are cars you'd like to run and are having difficulty with, head over to the Tuning Forum and see if somebody has published a build for the car you want 👍

There's also plenty of advice in there regarding building your own cars and taming undesirable handling traits...

It sounds to me like you need to learn the tracks a bit more and refine your driving style. I'm afraid it's practice, practice and practice.

If you're on default settings you already have the driving line, which is a good start for familiarity but to really learn the tracks and a line which works for you and the car, switch it off.

Personally I've never used other aids except for a bit of TC sometimes on powerful cars. Id say go easy on the driving aids, It will pay in the end with more consistency and better times.

Also assume you use controller, consider switching gas and brake to trigger or stick for a better range and more control.

These cars aren't easy to drive and require delicate inputs. There'll be some pain to go through before you get it right!
 
I was racing a friend; who insists on having everything off, and Hard tyres only.
We were using equal cars (Me in a MKIV Race Car and him in a XJ13 Race Car) Inevitably, he trashed me.

However, we also had a completely unrestricted race; so I put on my TC and SRF and Racing Softs. Same cars... but I won! :D

Guess which one was most fun?

Back to the point; yes 100% they help. The first race I could not even turn without spinning; the second race I barely even flinched.
 
Doing the liscences can help also.
AMG academy is helpful but I have to admit sometimes I need some driving aids. Its helpful and more enjoyable, especially under heavy rain. I'm still able to run a 650pp seasonal under 6:23:00 with everything off. The liscences helped me alot understanding Apex.
Most of the time, less is better.
 
Oversteer can be tuned out on the suspension settings. More toe in and softer rear end help. Also try stiffening the middle differential number.

I thought I'd add this. Buy Racing Soft tyres for your car if you don't already use them and also put downforce to maximum for the PP. Should make driving quite a bit easier.
