Recently, I have been invaded by these tiny, jumping crab-like spiders. They're everywhere and seem to be intent on irritating me any way they can. Last night, I was walking through a doorway, one jumped on me, and i immediately went into a seizure-like state of flailing until it vacated my shirt. Then, 5 minutes ago, I saw this: (see attachment).

Any idea on what it is?

That's just your normal, typical jumping spider... They're perfectly harmless (and I truly mean that). I promise you that they don't bite – I pick them up all the time.

They're just irritating. I could care less if one bit me (unless it was deadly, of course). I'd just like to know where they are coming from. It's a bit annoying to see spiders crawling aroundon your computer cables or drinking cup like they own the place. And these suckers really can jump far.

Have you had lots of rain lately? They could looking for a dry place to live.

Or maybe, your small infestion became a big one this spring. Meaning you could have a bunch of new borns running around, all from a pack of a few.

Call the Orkin man.

No rain.

They could be new borns. They are very small, only maybe 1/2 cm long. Anyone know how big they are full grown?

I hate spiders too. Luckily I don't have those kinds. Call the bug people like Magic said.

Depends on the specific species ("Jumping spiders" encompasses a number of species), but I'd say not much larger than 3/4ths of a centimeter.

Hmm...The rim of the cup is about a fifth of a centimeter wide, so the spider is (or was,as it fell into the cup, drowned, and I threw it away) about 2/5 cm long.

I was trying to pick it off the rim of the cup but I accidentally brushed it and it fell in and curled up, so I figured it was dead. Oh well, there's plenty more where it came from.

Man, that's nothing.

We've been getting Black Widows, including some inside my house. Two in the kitchen, one if the bathroom. I've killed 13 since January.

That's really not good... as much as I don't mind most spiders, having black widows in the house isn't... well, you know. I'd get some professionals to come in for that, because if you have that many, chances are there's a nest somewhere.

Yeah, no prob. 👍 I'm not saying that there definitely is a nest in or around your house, but that's a really abnormally high number of 'em... I live out in the boonies, and have killed dozens of centipedes and a handful of scorpions over the years, yet I've never had a single black widow in my house (and I've been living here all my life), so that definitely says something right there about how (un)common they are.

Every end of spring I get the bugspray mist (4 cans), bugspray (2 gallons with the squeeze shoot thing), then I leave the house for the night. After that, My house is practically bug free, except for those damn crickets that wont die. Those spray things are cool, they look like smoke grenades :dopey:

Solid Lifters
Hey look! He likes beer!

So do cockroaches, BTW.

Oh - you should should see the backyard garage... I left 5 cheez-its ( The big Cheez-its. ) and in 5 minutes after I turned the off the lights, those roach's devored all 5 huge cheez-its. Vicious little buggers.

I just found these two on the window, about 6 inches apart!

One for them keeps waving it's front legs at me.
