I'm very picky and I'd rather not settle for something. My previous car was a 2000 Honda Prelude in a peal white color. Stayed out of trouble with it, loved it, moved on.
I "settled" on my S2000 when I bought it, I had been searching for a Grand Prix White w/ black interior for a number of months before I finally gave in an picked it up in New Formula Red w/ black. Although I love the car, I always regretted not getting it in the color I wanted.
I've been shopping for a Lotus Elise in Aspen White for about 2 1/2 months now. I'm starting to think it's a lost cause as the color is hard to come by as it is, and when one does pop up it's in the $45k range, which I'm not willing to spend on just an Elise, that's Exige territory. I'd like to eventually step up to an Exige, depending on how much I enjoy the Elise and if I think it will be worth the extra investment.
I'm beginning to look at getting other colors now that seem to be a lot easier to come by. I think I would settle for one in Storm Titanium, a graphite color. I even considered a black one, although I think it hides the lines too much. Maybe I should just go the easy route and get it in orange? Hell I could always go to another red car right? I suppose I should be happy to even be in the position to get the car and shouldn't worry about the color too much, I think I'd be happy regardless but I don't want to spend all the money and regret it a couple months down the road. The Elise is one of those cars that I think looks good in any color and will stand out no matter what it is.
However, I always have this picture in my head of what my ideal car would look like, and when I compromise on things it just makes it all seem a lot less desirable. I need to do something soon though, I'm getting impatient, summer is right around the corner, and I don't want to spend months and months looking and only have a short time to play with it before storing it over the winter. It seems like I have a lot of factors working against me:
- Color is hard to find
- The car ITSELF is hard to find
- Finding something not across the entire country is hard to find
- Someone not asking $8k+ more than the car is worth is hard to find
- I'm picky as hell.
*sigh*
