Well, I finally got a job. And it kicks ass, too. Basically, I help the best detailer in town detail cars. Yes. Cars. And I'm talking 3 hours per car, too. And I get $6.00 an hour and work for about 8 hours 5 days a week. Not bad, eh? But considering we're mobile, it depends on the weather if I work or not. But I'm happy that I'm not unemployed anymore and I finally have some money.

Oh, and today we cleaned an S2000...it was fun.

Do you only detail cars, or do you do other little odd jobs too? Are you a lot porter/attendant? I know some lot porters, and they do ***** work, but do detailing a lot of the time.

Anyhoo, congratulations, have fun, and don't get fired.:)

Sounds like a cool job. My job is the pits. I work at a local auction gallery, and no, not a car auction. I move furniture, hold up boxes and hear the old men complain and yell.

Good for you man! When I was 18, I worked at a parking lot that was right next to a Mob resturant in Brooklyn (there was also a Motel in the back, imagine what happened in THAT place!). I never saw John Gotti or anything, but I parked those guy's cars all the time & you can BET I never came CLOSE to putting a scratch on any of those Caddy's or Lincolns!! This old guy, Carmine had 2 R.R. Corniche's  One was either all white or all cream-colored, and the other was this DEEP red w/white top & int. I never parked his car because he knew my co-worker & not me, untill one day Carmine pulls up & I'm the only one there! Carmine was always nice, but I was shi***** my pants at the idea of driving this thing!!!:scared: He asked me to put the top up & told me how, then he asked me to be careful with the car because it was very important to him (these guys have a way of talking to you). God, that Rolls was beautiful! For the 30-odd feet that I probably drove it, I could tell where all the money went!
Anyway I made like $40 bucks a day/night on tips alone! A very cool job! :D

Heh, I want your job. I work 38-40 hours a week working fast food. $6.25/hr but it's hard work, fast food blows.

Detailing is good, but you should also be getting a commission or tips on it. I work for Volkswagen seeling the cars :D

'Least you don't manufacture boxes.

My bro use to detail new Mazdas, Nissans, and Subarus for Fusz...he was good but they expected him to work till like 10pm or later(his job was 4-9pm) on several nights when he had college tests the next day. When he refused, he was fired. Ohh well. The guy that replaced him stole from the shop and did a horrible job.

Congrates though. It's always fun to work with cars. I will eventually.

aw rite! sounds very funny and illustrative!! Youll learn much from the cars you detail. way to go!!!
I need a job too, and Im gonna try my luck @ AutoTuning, an automotive magazine here in mexico. I hope they will give me some chance, first as an illustrator, then as something editorial-oriented.

It was lots of fun, except one day, the son of one of these guys had just driven up from PA & I parked his new Mustang GT. He came out like an hour later, noticed his hood was still hot & accused us of joyriding in his car!! :odd: Fortunaetly, no one believed him & they eventually calmed him down. That a-hole really made a big stink of it, though!
The next summer, I worked in a place called Roll-n-Roaster. The pay stunk & so did I after my shift, but the girls were all hotties!!

Yeah, I plan on keeping it for the summer... And I didn't mention that its under the table so no taxes...someone would have to make about $65 to make what I made yesterday ($42).

But...I'm working full time so my only off time is on weekends.

Well, the money will give you some freedom, so that's cool. Keep at it, and see if the boss will give you a reference at the end.

Well done KosmikFool
