I have a question

Why is the maximum file attachment size so small??? I have so many awesome pictures (a Subaru Impreza popping a wheelie on a rally track and is on 1 wheel! etc. etc.) that I would like to share with you all that can't be submitted because they are too big. Just something to consider.  :D

Just turn your pictures into JPEG file format. Its quit simple. If you using windows open up your picture/ pictures in Paint and just save it as a JPEG file format.:D This should make your picture file size smaller.

Webspace, hosting, and bandwidth is extremely expensive, so unfortunately I can't afford to offer much more space for attachments. However, if you have a Hotmail account, you are more than welcome to upload pictures of any size to my old website at MSN. Just click on "Create a new album", fill out the quick form, upload the pictures, and then post a link directly to your album. :)

i guess html is not on, nm.
First of all, welcome to GTPlanet, Deathhawk! It's great to have you. :D You're correct that HTML is disabled, but you can use our "vB Code" to format your messages instead (including inserting images). Just use the buttons above the box where you type in your message, or take a look at this page. :)

Any chance that you'll be upping the file size limits now that you've got your own server with so much space?

I was also thinking it would be nice to bumb up the avatar size. Something like 100 x 100 and 36kb would be nice (:

Oh oh! My other thought ... and this one would be rather difficult but very cool. Do you think it would be possible to make the vBulletin load a flash movie for an avatar? Flash files are can be very small, and still contain a lot of motion. There would be lots of problems with them, though, like people putting links and sound and junk. Maybe there is a way to have the server check the file before it allows it to be used. I'll do some research if you'd like me to, that could be really cool.

Yeah, pop-up windows and sounds inside avatars could wreak havoc. Let me know what your search uncovers though... :)
