hi! name's RoadRash and i'm new!

i don't know squat bout ps2's and gt3 so be kind ok? ;)

i used to play gt2 on my brother's playstation and got totally addicted, then when he got his chipped ps2 (which in south africa would cost you about as much as a sprinter trueno) and got a cracked gt3 i got even more addicted, as in 'drive 50 miles every weekend to play gt3' addicted

so i finally went and bought my own ps2 and the legit gt3 and now i'm racing my heart out
(i love this game)

so now that i'm about 60% done with the game i started wondering about cheat codes and secret cars and stuff
i've heard about gameshark codes but as far as i know gameshark is only for US ps2's right?
cos the chipped one i've got is def a UK PAL one
all i know is that it's got a chip in and that the right memory slot has this strange looking memory card with like an 'orbit' logo on it

is this some kind of gameshark? and if it is, where do i get codes etc etc for it, and how do i use them?

thanks in advance and i look forward to shooting spit bout cars with you guys

cheers!

I can't answer your questions re the strange memory card - but I can say welcome aboard!

No doubt people in the Gamesharking community here can answer your questions.

Well, welcome to GTP!

You'll know plenty about PS2s and GT3 by the time you're done here! :D

As far as the memory card...does it have any writing on it? Even a company name molded in the back? It may be a third-party memory card (which I do not recommend using - too many reliability problems).

Try looking at the PS2's browser with the card in. If you don't know how to get to it, start the console without a disc in it. Then highlight "Browser", push X, and voila! There you are. A memory card should show if it is, in fact, a memory card.

The american gamesharks have a shark's jaw with a circle around it (it is a lot longer than normal memory cards). It also has little dents(like a golf ball) on about half of it. If it is a gameshark you need a special disc that comes with the memory card thingy or else it doesn't work. If you want "secret cars" you need a sharkport (which i don't know too much about, i haven't even seen one!). The gameshark should come preloaded with some codes but for others you have to search online. If you don't have the gameshark disc, the card is useless.

i actually hate using my gameshark (i think it ruins the games). The only time i have used it was for the IA and S licences.

Welcome to GTPlanet, RoadRash! It's great to have you. :)

thanks for the welcome guys

anyway, the card definitely isn't a memory card, i think it might be some kind of gameshark or action replay, but i know even less about that
can anyone enlighten me?
