I don't know if you guys have played it yet but there is a downloadable PR-release demo from a dev called simbim or something and the name of the game is GTR.

Its like a FIA GT sim and its spectacular.

Anyway to the point: the greatest thing about that game is its sound. Its fcuking phenominal. It gives goosebumps, it sounds exactly like a real stripped-out raceride (having been in a few) and... blah.

One of GT's achilles heel(s) has been its terrible engine-sound accuracy. Perhaps they can do a bit of spywork and steal / copy the one from this game? :D

Anyway I encourage you all to go get that game, and hopefully you'll still want GT4 when youre done. :)

p.s. This game is much easier to play with Joystick or wheel combo, keyboard is a bastard but can be configged to run well.

I hate ricers too with their 16 second Hondas that are decked out with Bodykits as well as heavy 18 inch rims.I miss giving them a run for their money with my 93 Integra GSR with a B18c(JDM motor) swap and all motor set up(Jun cams and valvetrain) that had a gutten interior as well as lightweight wheels. Its a shame you have all these idiots street racing with their bodykits, loud ass exhaust and ugly paint jobs giving up true enthusiasts a bad name in the Honda crowd. The next time you see a Honda with altezza taillights and/or a bodykit, extend the middle finger for him please. Those two movies,The Fast and The FUrious and 2fast 2furious anger me greatly. But anyways I really hope Polyphony give us a surprise with GT4;) I am anxiously awaiting its release.

You can get the demo here .
It's 147 MB
During installation, when you are asked for a password copy and paste this:GTR_Press_Demo

The game is frickin awesome, especially the sound. It's 100% accurate. It's incredible.

thanks, but i dont think its legal to post that link.. i thought it wuz supposed to be private... its all innocent sharing, but i just dont want anyone to get in any trouble. Hopefully no one will fuss or whine. i'm dl'ing now.

[EDIT] OMG!!!!! this game feels really good, sound is really good. It even looks Decent on my Geforce 2 when i'm driving alone. I didnt know my force feedback could be that strong... would u guys reccomend turning force feedback down a bit, or should i leave it at 100%... its strong as hell... jeez[EDIT] i've only played this game for about 1 minute at this pt, but... wow.

Dude, we are going to have to hang out sometime. Maybe we can drive around Federal Way handing out Ricer Violation tickets.

well... turns out i have to revers the force feedback.. no wonder it felt so weird....:sly: now it doesnt feel strong enough..:)

Question.......before I DL this file, what do I need to play it. I just have a keyboard and Win 98?

What is needed to play? Do I just download it and install it and away I go?

i just tried it w/ kb.. and its not extremely hard. but maybe u might have to turn on steering assist if its even in the game... Its a little easier to control w/ wheel. i only played w/ KB for about 40 seconds so someone else could give u a better opinion. its only 150mb so if u got a fast connection just try it out.

I have an AthlonXP 2500, windows 2k, 512mb ddr400 ram. and a geforce 2. and it runs decently on my pc.. not super smooth framerates but tollerable

I cant get the stupid pit regulator to shut off....any ideas guys??? I can only drive aorund the track at 50 or below.

Edit: im using the Driving Force Pro wheel.

Did you configure the keys on your wheel?
You have to have a key that disables the Pit Limiter. On the keyboard that key is "L".

Hmm there's one sound that really bugs me... The roaming sound of the engine when stoped... It goes on even when rolling.. in the background. Kind of bugging me...

GTR is great. Don't expect GT4 to match this kind of soundquality though, because with 16mb it is already amazing what PD manage to pull out. Adding such quality samples would eat into the RAM far too much.

Think about it guys, and you'll be amazed what PD does with just 16mb of memory for graphics, sound, program code and data, etc. Wow

This is quite the challenge to withhold my anger from the people who developed this, they have taken so many hours from my life with just the demo, the actual game should create some orphice in the world im going to fall through. This game is so incredible, the sound is more than awesome, and the driving matches it.

lol, wuts not fun about it?? its a freakin press demo, wut'd u expect? 500 Cars and everything to be perfect?

Chop it down a gear when at speed!!!!!!!!!ROOOOOOOOAAAAAARRRRRMMMMMMMMMM.
