Well, the title is self explanitory. With anothe local driver, I took my Miata out, and ran up and down the Touge a few times. I actually achieved a pathetic drift!

It was my first time pushing it, and I know I'll be better, once I build my skill and courage. And now that I've done it, I'll never be able to get it out of my system.

Be Careful! I've been hearing about lots of accidents lately of people driving too fast in the mountains and ending up hurt or worse. (refer to Sad Story thread).

Truth is, I don't think I got beyond 35 or 40! But it felt so fast.....

Touge, BTW, is Japanese for a mountain pass road. They drift on Touges in Initial D, for instance. This one is nice though, no cliff off the side, and completely abandoned at night.

I dont think youre going to find a lot of people here going 'yeah, great job! you should do it again and again until youre awesome!'

I've "pushed"(not like, you know, get out and push...the other push you're talking about.) the 323...but that's just everyday driving. :) Who says a 16 year old 323 can't take a 25mph curve at 65mph? I've done it. I actually do it more than once a week. :D

Sounds cool that you were able to see what your Miata can do. Take some videos next time!

I actually have a video of myself in a busted Isuzu Rodeo going down a mountain pass for a while, doing an average of 45 miles per hour, vehicle stuck to the ground well and only "almost" lost it once, but that was because the glare on the windshield and the dust, other than that it was pretty cool, I want to go back up with a full tank and a full charged battery and get the whole thing..although inside it looks pretty retarded, like we're going 20 mph tops..oh well

Well, that sounds pretty dangerous to me. Going out driving for fun is fine, but drifting sounds like a very bad idea on public roads to me. Would this happen to be a one way road?

Actually, the drift was totally accidental......

I accellerated too hard going through a corner, and oversteered, and just turned it into a drift rather than losing control. Trust me, I was not trying to do anything like that.

Also, what is pretty funny, as fun as it was, I don't think I exceeded 35!.

Oh, I got the impression that you were trying to drift the whole way.

I was test driving a Miata I was thinking about buying through some nice curvy farm roads, like you said its a ton of fun even at just 40 mph, although i got up to more like 55 ish, as that was the speed limit. I really wish I had the money to buy that car. Even if it's pretty girly looking, it's so much fun to drive.
