I bought an OPEL CALIBRA TOURING CAR from the UCD and thought I might create (generate) some kind of touring car track to try it out. So I went to the creator and came up with an adequate track to test it on. I saved the track and then went to my tracks on the GTLife screen and chose to race on my creation. And low and behold the game put in the opposition AI on equal terms as my ride and I had one hell of a fun battle. So I got in my FGT and the opposition where all FGT's. Now I am racing all my rides this way, Makes the game alot more fun and I just keep coming back for more. No more same old championship races repeating themselves over and over. Just fun, fun, fun as every new race is very much different from the last. Seems like I am racing a whole new A-Spec championship race every time with the AI on equal terms. If you like racing in GT off line like me and find the grinding as boring as I do then try this. It's extended the life of GT5 for me infinitely. You can even create an up to 99 lap endurance if you wished.

The only downside for me is that you don't get EXP or Credits for this but I find it's what has made GT5 a whole lot more fun.

It's just a shame that the "REAL" A-Spec is so short lived and I think that what events are there would be more fun and challenging if the game through in equal opposition to the ride you brought to the event in the first place so it's not too easy to walk all over the opposition.

I mean, you take an FGT to the Sunday Cup now and the game pit's you against Honda Civic's and the like. Now, really what fun is that? But if the game through in all FGT's then that would give the game a bigger challenge even to the point that you would go back to most, if not all events so many times in different rides. But hey, IMO that's a future patch for Kaz & Crew to think about !!!

isnt that kinda like running practice and using the "one make" option? aside from having a "custom" course?

Not really. Only if you using something like the FGT. But if you run an LMP race car then the game throws in all different LMP race cars to suite your car, not just the same make & model.

If the game would give xp and money for running these custom races it would be perfect. There is no reason that xp and money couldn't be calculated based on race length.

I totally agree.👍

Didn't GT2's Event creator give you some kind of money for competing?

Hi dixonbaps, You formulate exactly the feelings I have about the game.
A-SPEC competition is a big disillusion, but good cars and the track generator give compensate many defaults.

Just one problem: it's a pitty that the level of the opponents cannot be choosen (1-10) like in GT4. Often, I find myself in 1st position after the first lap. So what I do is to make a useless pitstop just to make it harder to win.

I have not had time to use the course maker but I think I'll give it a go right now.

Also, if you want a more of a challenge, do it in Arcade Mode -> Professional Setting. There you get some cars a bit more powerful than yours making it harder to get 1st by the first lap.

I can't remember but it is what they do on NFS Shift, TBH its a very good way of having alot of fun in whatever car you want, on whatever track you want!
(AT the end of the day we all buy games to have fun don't we!)

Thanks for the suggestion:tup:

I came across this feature last night after saving my first worthwhile course. It is comparable to going to Arcade Mode, where there you can also chose the type of event, set the opponent AI strength, number of laps and pick from your own tracks.
