I just finished that p.o.s. Complex String on time attack after some 4-6 hours of frustrating restarts so I can finally leave t.a. behind me.

Damn, that wasn't even close to being fun, easily some of the most infuriating hours ever in frony of my ps2.

In the second and third circular turn, I found it really helpful to shift in to third gear once I had reached the optimum speed. It makes the accelerator a lot more forgiving throughout the corner and makes it easy to stay on your target speed. Before I did this I tend to skid out way too much, and that really punished me.

Btw, the time was 4.48.517, if anyone wondered.

FINALLY!!!

Congrats! I was immensely happy when I did it too. This belongs to the GT3 section though.

EDIT: I thought I was in the Rumble Strip section. :odd:

Congratulations! I actually enjoyed that one, since the RGT is one of my favorite cars. I was more frustrated with TT9 on the Tahiti Maze.

I remember that being tough. For me the key was going full speed over the hills and aiming for the inside of the turn even though I couldn't see it.

Read my post in the 100% club.

It definitely was not the easist, but i wouldn't say frustrating or anything like that, because the more I ran it, the better my times got. UNLIKE some of the gold licenses, that I can spend two hours a day on and never get past silver. THOSE are what suck:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

complex string TA killed sooooooooo much of my time....I think I spent about 2.5 hours trying to get that course down right....

about an hour into the thing, I managed to get a really good time cuz I was about 2 seconds ahead of my ghost, and my ghost was only 0.5 seconds short of the winning time

until I unversteered the last terms and clipped the grass/wall...that slowed me down, and my old ghost caught up real close. I finished it, being 0.010 seconds short of the winning time!!!

boy was I mad!!

Getting through that is quite an accomplishment, good jorb...job.

I finally passed it for 100% last month, told my wife "Look, I'm going to try this difficult part of the game for a few hours...if I curse at the TV screen, it's nothing personal...", to which she was pretty cool about. I spent about 3 hours finally trying to nail it just right, the hills and hairpins are what killed me.

I couldn't believe how much that stupid ASM and TCS ruin that car.

After two I got it... so it wasn't that difficult for me :)

Thank you all, now I can aim for all golds on the license tests, I have just started on the A group and so far I'm only missing the A-8 gold. But I've almost given up on ever getting a gold on that one, but then again, I thought the exact same thing on beating complex string.

I actually turned on both of them solely for complex string.

Edit: That should have read: I just started trying to get gold on the B-license tests. And no, I still haven't been able to finish b-8 with more than a silver.

For NTSC people, we aren't given the opportunity to do that. We're stuck with full ASM/TCS for all Time Trials, which made it much more difficult for me.

I guess that's our punishment for getting 6 F1 cars.

I coulnt get it at all but then about a year later i tryed it and got it in about 15mins so i guess its all down to practiese
