More specifically, Mathare, or MYSA (Mathare Youth Sports Association). It was part of our school program, running as many 1/4 mile laps in 30 minutes as possible. I just got back, it was pissing rain and I'm freezing - I feel so good.

Now you're probably thinking it's not fair that only I can support MYSA; fear not, you can do your share too! If YOU want to make a difference, you can sponsor me by as much money as you'd like per lap, some are giving ten cents, some are giving two bucks a lap. The only bummer is that you can't pay directly, it has to go through me, so if you wanna contribute paypal me at e i r i k [dot] s m i l d e n [at] hot... Just so we're clear, I'm also giving $90 out of my own pocket.

I could've stopped at five laps like a buddy of mine but I pushed myself for this cause. Your turn; make a difference and feel good :)

That's cool that you did that, props for running hard to earn more money.

Unfortunately, I doubt many people are going to be willing to send money to somebody they don't know via paypal for it.

Very admirable. I try to do one or two sponsored charity sports events per year. Usually a separate running or cycling event.

It's great that you're raising money for charity and all, but I've always wondered about these sorts of things. I mean, how does running around actually help? The people who are actually donating are the ones who's doors you knock on. Your running around the track only proves to them that you're willing to run around in circles.

I mean, personally, I'd rather see you smash an egg on your face. I think that's a better way to prove your dedication to the cause. Maybe you like running, maybe you're training for a sport, marathon, or track meet and you need to run anyway.

I should try this. Next time someone comes to my door saying they're going to run somewhere if I'm willing to give them a buck I'll tell them "Don't bother running. Smash this egg on your face and the buck is yours."

I'd like to see it in person. :)
I'd add in "at my front door" otherwise he's going to be looking for you in Oslo.

Unless you'd like to go on an excursion to Norway.
