While I have been focusing so much on gaining points, leveling up and grabbing money I completely ignored the Arcade mode in the game. So when I played it two days ago I was completely blown away with the number of cars you can race against; 16 cars over the the simulation mode's 12 cars. Then I was able to add in the damage for the cars which really made it a driving simulator. Why isn't this available in the A-spec mode? (Am I missing a setting in A-spec?) I would really like to have a more realistic drive against 16 cars while gaining experience and money for the effort.

Any way I thought it was a blast and decided to run my own 15 laps of Le Mans. The best part is you are not the only who takes on damage. During my first couple of laps a number of the AI cars entered the pits to recover from the damage.

i like uploading a few cars from my GT PSP to use in the arcade mode. I get to use cars that i haven't won/ bought in a-spec.

i love it too, same goes for the track creator. love grinding/tuning on those.

If there were more restriction options, and credit rewards I'd never leave arcade mode.

I tried doing one-make races and arcade mode races "for fun" but, the AI has to be improved. I always blow everyone away, even when using the same tires and putting it on the highest difficulty setting.

But try doing a SSR7 race with an all FGT field. That's pretty fun. :)

I can't find out how to do one make races.
I bring my Acura NSX RM to arcade mode and everyone is using different cars.
But bring an FGT, and everyone uses an FGT.

One make races aren't in arcade mode. They're in GTLife, and then Practice, next to the time run and drift trails.

I like arcade as well. I had no idea why Polyphony couldn't have added sixteen cars to at least the Extreme and Endurance races. It would make it much more realistic, enjoyable, and slightly more difficult. I also like that you can adjust the difficulty of the cars you're racing against ones that you have so you can actually make the AI compete.

Plus it has the plus on not wasting away the car.

Being a bit of a nut in preserving the state of a car, I resort to Arcade Mode to drive around the cars I have earned without wasting away the oil, engine and frame. :)

This. There is no way I'm taking my 787b to my jump track in GTLife. Being able to drive your Favorites as well as 50 from GT PSP is great! I have yet to buy my precious 88C-V, but can drive it in Arcade mode thanks to my PSP!

For me, arcade mode is where the fun starts in GT5... Silly name though, I haven't ventured there for months, because I like GT series to be a simulator, but frankly, arcade mode is just as a simulator as GTlife is. But, unlike GTlife, it can be used to make more realistic races against AI opponents.... and way much more fun (without going online)!
I turn every help off (except abs at 1), un-tuned cars, and for a track I am familiar with, I use worse tyres than the AI - I can't win most of those matches, but it's still fun watching how far I can get....
The best races are in the Nurburgring though. I'd like to be able to switch on ONLY 'change time' withouth 'change weather', maybe a patch will solve my problem (its fun driving in wet, but not always... and unlike GTlife, in arcade mode it rains EVERY TIME I choose change time-change weather option)

Quote! I'm going to buy all the premium race cars just for race in arcade mode with no hud and dashboard view!

The best part of racing in Arcade mode is unlimited possibilities of things going wrong. Last night I did another 10 lap race at Le Mans, and while I was damaged on the first lap 1 and was forced to pit I was able to make up the lost places over the next laps. But on the final lap I was running Racing Hard tires when the heavens opened and it started to rain. Next thing I know my left rear touched the wall causing some damage. So I had to limp back to the Start/Finish line, beating out the competition by mere seconds. This is the way you want to play the game. True racing at heart.

Checked it out, was great fun! Tried the cockpit view the first time for a long run and WOW I love it!! I can´t drive on my limit in cockpit but for fun it is really realistic!

Took the S2000 AEM on the Nordschleife with sports medium, great experience! But AI is anyway too easy... There is no challenge, only the "catch the #1 car within 1 lap" challenge...
