1989 Nissan Skyline GT-R. :sly::sly::sly::dopey:👍

Short bit of history (to the best of my memory, was being told all this while getting a ride in it, so was a little distracted ;)).

If anyone has watched the High Octane (.co.nz) videos, you may or may not recall in High Octane 3 (?) there was a yellow R32 GT-R at Ruapuna Raceway in Christchurch doing 11's in the quarter mile. Had the licence plate 111111 or IIIIII.

This is that same car. Albeit, it is now blue, has less power with two hairdryers again instead of one i think and has a little history between that vid and now.

It was stolen and later crashed in Picton (top of the South Island). Had body repairs done to a decent standard. Was repainted. Another member of our car club (southernskylines.com) owned it a few years back and did a bit of work to it, he then sold it.
It has been sitting in a Christchurch car yard for two years or so until a couple of weeks ago when another club member bought it and came up and gave me a ride in it today.

His other car, a red R32 GTS-t, was only the second ever Skyline i went in (at this meet in 2004) and was no doubt one of the quickest.

Until i got a ride in the GT-R today though, i want one SSOOOO badly now! :D

GT-R's are reasonably common here (city of 120,000) but this still attracted a bit of attention. Has quite a hard suspension setup so you feel every bump, but man... :grumpy: I NEED TO WIN LOTTO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: Oh, in case you didn't know already, this was the first GT-R i've ever been in. ;)

Very cool. I've never even seen one in real life.... Thanks for sharing.

With the amount of R32's in NZ, Im suprised Im suprised it took so long.

Wow. That sounds really awesome. I don't think I've ever seen more than 3 skylines period, let alone ride in one. You are really lucky!👍

The R32 GTR has always been my favourite Skyline. I always keep an eye out for a tidy unmodified R32 GTR, but sadly most have some level of 'improvements' :(

I've had dozens of rides in a fairly quick R32 GT-R, even offered to drive it, but declined as I haven't driven standard in 3 years and didn't want to torch the clutch.

They do go like stink though. And you can't be that far off from owning one. You don't need the lotto. My friend is only 20 and owns one, and he doesn't do anything special for a job (40-hour weeks, uncertified mechanic).

Same here. In games and on TV I like the look of the R34 the best. Blue is also my favorite color on the Skylines.

Yeah, i know Jay. :nervous: I nearly got a ride in a 600+hp one a few years back but every time i contacted him and sorted out a date, it rained. And that R had semi-slicks yet still loses traction to all four wheels in third. :scared:

Yeah, its most definately my fave too. The R32's are amongst (IMO of course) the best looking cars ever made and the R32 GT-R does, or comes insanely close to the most beautiful car ever.

Keep an eye out on GTP, in three or so years i should hopefully have one (i'm only earning $370NZ a week and am still saving for a GTS-25 manual coupe for a daily driver), and it will be staying factory condition (or being restored to factory condition). 👍

Awesome car.

I too, have never even seen a skyline.

I saw a set of skyline taillights once, but that was on an Integra.

Yup, an oil cooler. They are thinking of putting the original GT-R slots there though, and were worried about the glue on the GT-R badge becoming unstuck due to the heat of the cooler. :D
