I love GT5 again :)

I have been a ds3 user my whole life. While i was cleaning out the spare room i found an old logitech driving force wheel. I thought this could be interesting so i hooked it up to the ps3 at about 5 pm.After playing for a bit i looked at the clock and it was 2 am. The next day i went and bought a g27 and GT5 is practically a whole new game. Just learning to drive every car around the ring again is so much fun.. The NSX is pure gold of a car. So much grip but easy for the end to snap off. And the Conclusion is that if any DS3 users are bored with GT5, as i was then buy a wheel and you will not regret it.

I too am back on GT5. It's still not what I hoped it would be, but I've ignored the fact that the AI (and pretty much every aspect of racing) is rubbish and I'm now enjoying it for what it is. Funnily enough, I'm enjoying it for exactly the same reasons I enjoyed every previous GT's. I guess I just expected it to be more this time around...

But either way, I am still using a DS3 and don't even have an HD TV! Once I can afford a fancy new TV I'm sure I will spend more time in photo mode and enjoy it even more :).
 
Congratulations, I had to settle with the DFGT, but the feeling is all the same. It is a whole new experience with a wheel. Enjoy!
 
You used a Driving Force wheel and then bought a G27?

How much of an improvement is it?

I use a Driving Force Pro from a bajillion years ago. Was it worth it to upgrade to a g27?
 
I just can't believe people actually use pads to play GT5, must be so boring lol. Nothing better having a wheel and feeling the grip, bumps and back end kicking out:)

I like playing with the pad, have no choice but it's not that bad. I'd like to try with a wheel but they are stupidly expensive, for me anyway. :nervous:

Glad to see people in the same boat as me, well not glad that you cant buy a wheel but... You know what i mean :)
 
^ I'm in exactly the same position, but still manage to have fun with the pad. It would be better if I had FFB though...
 
A wheel is a must buy it makes GT5 (and any other racing game) that much more enjoyable. :)
 
Yeah, one day for me too - just can't afford one and can't see that changing just yet. Still, I'll have all those games to go back to when that happens 👍
 
There are loads of 2nd hand wheels on ebay that would be up to the job. I just searched now and looked at the completed listings and some logitech wheels have been going for less than £10!! I used to play GT3 and 4 with a logitech driving force and it was still 10x better than a pad.

Don't tell me you can't afford £10? That's not even 3 pints of beer.
 
I use the G27 wheel.

I think that when you use the wheel you feel like you are driving a car, and when you use the pad you feel like you are playing a game.
 
You literally cant beat the DFGT for 100 dollars. Build an e-brake rig using a DS3, some rubber bands and an old computer joystick, BAM, Youre ready to go. Slap a bungie around your pedals as well, good times haha.
 
Awesome! I got back to GT5 after driving manual and with aides off:)

You wouldn't mind writing a short tutorial for that, would you? I'd love if I could do that, drifting would be so much more awesome!
 
As a christmas present years ago, my parents bought me a Ferrari wheel and GT4. It was an Amazing experiance! Such a smooth movement and springy centering. Then i dropped it. And it broke. So i got a driving force ex as replacement. And then was like how did i cope without it! I still use it a lot, even though i got the DFGT cheap.

Wheels just increase the fun you can have with GT a million times. Better still though is if you can find a low table to hook it on, because your knees hurt if you use the squeezebox thing! Lol
 
Glad to hear you are enjoying GT5 again. I went threw this back at the start of the year. Started to get bored with GT5 and a DS3, so I convinced myself a wheel would be worth it(and my wife too). Went out and got a G27 from craigslist(had to repair the sensor wheel and the screws for it), but now I haven't played any other games cause I want to master driving around the Ring with each of the cars.
