These are what we use on the Product Line I work on, the LADARWave Wavefront Abberometer.

Anyway, in addition to building and testing the LADARWave, we also are the depot level repair center worldwide for the LADARWave, so Field Service Engineers will send back equipment to us, and we evaluate it to see if we can duplicate the gripe and determine the root cause if any.

Since doctors are real picky customers, many times the FSE's will change out components just to appease the doctor. They'll send things in, along with the original complaint, and we evaluate it.

Since we are an FDA Medical Device Manufacturer, any device or sub-assembly that comes back under a complaint can never be re-installed into a system that is used on patients. So we sometimes end up with stuff that is perfectly good. Such as the above 19" monitor. What does Tesh Services (who the FSE's report to) do with these items after eval? Scraps them.

I offered to handle the "scrapping" of this monitor today and the Tech Services rep said, "no problem"

LFS is gonna look a lot better on this than the ol' Dell 17" CRT.

Like I said, I love my job :D

:grumpy:

My dad always gets a ticket to Welsh internationals because of work, but because it is business there's never a ticket for me :grumpy:

A great looking monitor though and with a $750 dollar (from article) retail price it's certainly an awesome saving 👍

Nice!

My father used to work for DuPont's Engineering Physics lab, and he came home with all manner of stuff from their bins.
